I like sharp cheddars. As a youngster, my grandmother would give us "Coon" cheese. It was probably a brand name. Good stuff, IIRC.

Hope it is a brand. Would not want to have to milk a raccoon.

TOTV seems kinder and friendlier today.
My friends kind of look down on my favorite cheese, which is Port Salut. Semi Soft and mild. If you wish to try it, ONLY buy it cut from the wheel. Publix and others sell wedges vacuum packed. Not worth it. Wholefoods will cut it fresh from a wheel.

I like the Tillamook brand cheeses. Pretty good for a supermarket brand. Their ice cream is excellent too.

Heads up, they Always have the kraft jars at Christmas because I use them for a homemade cheese ball recipe.
I also wish it was available year round.

Old Croc is TOTALLY awesome and sharp as can be! A wonderful friend just turned us on to Old Croc! Now, that's a friend!

Where to find Asiago - a really nice tasting cheese. Nothing fancy just a good relatively inexpensive cheese. Borden’s puts out an Asiago but hard to find. Cracker Barrel puts out an Asiago but hard to find. Of course if you really need to mortgage the house …………

I didn't know that. I have been mixing 8 oz of softened cream cheese with 1/4 cup of crumbled blue cheese to approximate Kraft Roka Blue. You might want to add a couple tblsp of water to thin it.

Publix sells wedges of BelGioioso Asiago in their deli area. They also carry Cracker Barrel slices and chunks elsewhere.

You can get asiago cheese at Fresh Market and at Publix.

Meanwhile, I picked up some of that Point Reyes blue recommended up-thread. When it cut so smoothly I was worried. I've had "creamy" blue cheese from other brands and I really don't like the flavor, it's always more like - brie with blue veins in it, rather than that sharp, tangy flavor throughout that I love so much. But this was really delicious.

I'll be putting it on my cheeseburger tonight for supper.

Got it at Sprouts, it was $8.49 for the wedge. (edited because I verified the price on my receipt - it was definitely $8.49 for the 6-oz wedge).

They also had bananas at 49 cents a pound, and I picked up some dried apricots and prunes to make filling for my hamentashen. Got some vine-ripe tomatoes for $1.49/lb and a yellow onion, I can't remember what I paid for it.

In my younger years I had the pleasure of working in a family operated cheese factory in Wisconsin.
At Christmas time they would bust out the 5 year aged Brick Cheese from the cooler vaults.
Special seasoned employees were only allowed to slice, weigh, and wrap those Brick cheese blocks that were designated for special customers only for the holidays.

We, as employees were given small samples of this Aged Brick cheese if we wanted them, which I did.
The most elegant, creamy, delectable cheese one could ask for...not to mention it stunk to high heaven and
back !!
I would cherish my sample and slice it thin for the top of hamburgers and on top of a finished grilled ribeye.
Nothing like it in this world !

I don't even see real Aged Brick cheese anymore...sad.
