Pickelball People -- Pay Attention to TV Rules.
Not sure if you know about the violations of TV rules about congregating at some TV pools. The latest news is that the pools are now closed. How awful, nevertheless understandable.

Related to Pickleball, I was playing yesterday at Big Cypress and the courts were full. No one observing TV congregation rules. How terrible it would be if the Pickleball courts were shuttered.

Please get the message to all Pickeball players that they need to self police the rules of The Villages or there will be no place to play, period. Along with no place to swim.

People sitting on the benches waiting to play....I doubt the courts will stay open...too bad. Lap swim is even gone...

take the balls away that will eliminate 95%. Then only one’s with their own balls will be playing.

I'm all for that. We six play once a week on one court, mingling with no one else. I would hate to give that up.

And this morning at Miona where we always play at 9:30, we were told that in order to keep the courts open, the 5.0 group agreed to keep the middle court empty. Which is what we all did. (We are the puny 3-3.5 group that the 5.0s somehow graciously allow us to take a court!)

There are always some that will ruin it for others....self policing doesn't happen here.

TV did not put out water at Mulberry yesterday. The balls are a major problem. I joined this forum in 2014? What about the outdoor work out stations??

It would be nice if the 10 person rule was more specific. On the tennis courts, it’s easy to have less than 10 people inside the fence, two courts playing doubles is 8 people.

In platform or touch tennis four people inside the court is normal.

In Pickle ball do they mean they only want two courts of folks? Then take down the other 4 nets and put up a sign of no more than two waiting. Do they mean they don’t want more than 10 people congregated in the line? Then say that.

The rec center people are still working, have them at the entrance counting down folk at the top of each hour, and then close them for the hour. You get 50 min of pickle ball before the next crowd comes in.

The pools could be used if the villages staff have someone at the entrance allowing a certain amount of people in at a time. Limit to an hour or so. This could be done only using specific pools. If the Villages say staffing this idea would be difficult, use the gate attendants.

They could only open pools with staff on hand, those with the rec centers attached.

Those without people assigned there, like those attached to mailbox locations, they could stay closed.

Very simple 10 people. If you stand at the entrance and you can count 10 people then the limit is reached. Do not need monitors we are all over 5 years old but because of the "the all about me" attitude pools are closed and probably soon all courts. So sad that in this great place people can not behave to protect each other.

Learn from the closing of all pools because people wouldn't follow the guidelines.....otherwise the pickleball courts will be next to go.

...and then you'll see MUCH more than 10 people crowding the entrance waiting for their turn.

Or MUCH more than 10 people crowding the attendant, asking her why they can't be there when the 10 who are there aren't even near each other, or even IN the pool at the same time...and when will this let up? And can't they just take a quick dip "right over there" where no one is sitting? And what time is the next wave coming, and can they reserve 5PM tomorrow? And they have a party of 11 coming, surely she can just miscount and not notice, no one will say anything...

People don't like rules, as much as some folks on this forum claim they do. They only like rules when it benefits them. When it doesn't benefit them, they do not like them. And they will protest, and try to get around them, and want to talk to someone in charge so they can complain about them.

There will be no peaceful pool participation, if you limit the number of people allowed to be at the pools OTHER than the usual max capacity. If there are empty tables, if there is a 6-foot diameter around any person IN the pool - there will be someone complaining that they should have the same right to be in there too.

So upset about the closing of the pools. I sure hope there isn't a ban on driving around in your golf cart. It's my only saving grace.

Most of us who play have our own balls. Others have begun taking and holding onto a few balls just in case. Balls are also readily available elsewhere.

This issue seems to have policed itself in many areas. A substantial portion of players are no longer participating. As a result, there are fewer, if any, people sitting on the sidelines at many of the Rec Center courts.
