Damp dryer sheets work great of dead bug spot on painted surfaces...

Dry dryer sheets are awesome bug repellent, just rub on exposed skin...

Not a good idea, several garage and driveway coating do NOT react well to gasoline, I know from experience.

It looks like a lot of small dark insects (love bugs?) sought refuge on our garage door in last night's downpour in DeSoto. This morning I swept off the carcasses only to find some greasy looking circles under their dead bodies. How do I get these circles off? Thanks. (Attachment came out smaller than expected but I think you can make it larger by clicking on it.)

They will do the same thing to your car finish. Remove them as soon as you can.

That is an old one and it works, just that it is dangerous. Spark, like a light switch, ac unit etc etc plus enough gasoline vapors equals explosion. Far safer is lighter fluid, while still flammable it is not explosive. Lighter fluid can be bought as Coleman Fuel. For small jobs like removing labels. The small can to fill lighters is handy as it has an on off spout.

conclusion to greasy circles on garage door

I used Dawn, full strength, on a soft brush the same day and VOILA! the greasy circles & bug body residue all came off nicely. Garage door looks great. :a040:

Thanks for all your valuable suggestions. I gained a lot of knowledge - Dawn is the go-to product for grease, laundry detergent is made to remove organic stuff, raising garage door makes the job easier, White Eraser is good product...gasoline...not so much. :clap2: Enjoy the day!
