There is no gun registration in the state of Florida. To sell a gun to a private owner, the buyer must be a Florida resident. I would ask for a drivers license, and a CWL , and make photo copies, plus a bill of sale that you can get online . Or better yet, sell to an FFL.

In NY I had to detail the gun I was going to carry on my CCP application before they would decide if I would get the license. Kind of backwards. Had to buy a gun, which is held at the sporting store. Then put the sn of that gun, the gun I purchased but could not possess, on the application and wait to see if the permit was granted. Mine was and I received the license and picked up my handgun. Wonder what would happen if it was denied (Not uncommon in NY)

Realize what is posted here is OPINION. My pseudo-name is daves. If, you are stopped for SPEEDING in your golf cart at best you will get a laugh-BUT daves told me. Like most things there is a LAW. The police used to have, likely still do have a meeting with villagers once a month at the savannah center. Far as guns, law is endlessly changing. It is often the law for this week in this state. |

NY the line to be told what line to wait on next takes like an hour and a half. A boat on a trailer, you get to go through the lines at least twice. As far as conceited carry in NY. Interesting, I carried cash and could not get one. I expect it was not in the five boroughs. Your gun being denied? There is a list of what they approve. The issue is the number of bullets it will hold. |

Minnesota is constantly trying to fix things that aren't broken. The Driver's License application and renewal process worked well enough, though VERY slow. So they put a new system in, in place of the one that worked. All it accomplished was to make a relatively slow process a painfully slow process, often to the point of stopping. The system was backlogged by at least three months, if not more. When we got to TV and applied for our Florida licenses at the Tax Collector's office (love that Florida isn't into cute euphemisms), I asked, at the end of the data-entering process, just how long we'd have to wait before we received our licenses. The data collector looked at me kind of oddly; I added that the usual wait in Minnesota was around three months. She laughed and said "you'll have it in your hand when you walk out of here". Car plates too. THAT was backed up at least as long. Odd, being that the plates were manufactured at the State prison less than an hour way from the license bureau in St. Paul. But that wasn't the only problem. There were stories going around (knew one guy personally who had it happen) to the effect that not having your plate displayed was in violation of the law. One guy took it to court because he got ticketed for not displaying a current plate, claiming (rightfully) that he had abided by the lawful process and requested his replacement plate as required. The judge found against him, his reasoning being (in paraphrase) that a citizen cannot avoid legal penalties just because the government didn't fulfill its obligations in a timely manner. Florida, in so many respects, is a breath of fresh air. |

If you're a Florida resident and a legal gun owner over the age of 21, then you may sell the firearm to another Florida resident over the age of 21 as long as you don't know or have reasonable cause to believe that the buyer is prohibited from gun ownership. It would behoove a seller to have a Bill of Sale describing what is being sold and a statement that the buyer is not prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm in the state of Florida. You should also obtain a copy of the buyer's Driver's License showing his/her Florida residency. Both the buyer and seller should sign and date the Bill of Sale. It's a good idea to retain this Bill of Sale indefinitely. Give the buyer a copy also. The buyer does NOT have to possess a Concealed Carry Permit, nor does the buyer have to undergo a NICS background check in a private transaction. There is no waiting period in private transactions. |

Just wait a bit. All the gun rules are going to disappear soon based on the Supreme Court ruling, Bruen, authored by Thomas. He established a new criteria for gun control regulation that any rule that did not exist at the time of the adoption of the Constitution is unconstitutional. There have already been court decisions saying that anyone can remove the serial numbers from guns as it was not prohibited nor did numbers exist in 1791 and a NY law that prohibited people from bringing guns into airports has been stopped.
A Federal court in Texas has ruled that the Federal government cannot prohibit a person under indictment for a violent felony from buying new guns. This judge admits in his opinion that having to allow a person indicted for felonies the right buy and to keep and bear arms will have societal consequences he adds that he must find that the rule is based on a “general societal problem that has persisted since the 18th century,” He adds that for the government to continue to enforce its prohibition it must have evidence from 1791; Quote:
