Default Hair salon

I am very new to TV and to Florida. I am looking for information on what the going rate is for a color, cut and a blow dry. If you have a salon you would recommend, or if there is one that I should stay clear of, I would appreciate your wisdom. Its a little overwhelming having to find new EVERYTHING! Thanks in advance.

I can tell you Helen’s nail salon in Trailwinds is great. Since 07, For our household, hair salons don’t have much talent within the bubble. We travel north twice a year, and have standing appointments for haircuts, high and low lights, and such.

Cal's Barber and Beauty is a popular business in The Villages. They have 4 locations but I think only the Brownwood and Spanish Springs stores do styling. The other 2 are just barber shops.

Your welcome. I have been to multiple salons here their idea of high and low lights is very different than what we are used to.

My stylist gave me the color numbers of products, and time she uses for high and low. Even though salons had the correct product, no one had the ability to or want, to do the color or basic cut I have.

It seems most in TV can cut short basic older hair style, but I keep mine hair mid length. As for color they all are very versatile with grey hair, mostly adding toner. But I don’t have grey hair, so here lies the problem.

I go to Clove Salon in Clermont because it’s an Aveda Salon that uses organic products. I’ve been very happy there. I go every 6 weeks for color and cut. The only salon with Aveda products in The Villages is Tuscany and they are more expensive. They actually charged me for blow drying my hair when I was there for a color.

Default Hair Salon

I use Cathy at Cal’s in Brownwood. My hair is to the middle of my back and she gives me partial foil highlights and cut and shampoo for for $97.00 (in DC area 10 years ago it cost me $250 for the same service). Have been going to her for 5 years and she is very quick and good.

The rates vary by the talent level. I have paid $100 to 350. I prefer an asymmetric haircut, so I go to Salon Dulay in Windermere. This is an Aveda salon with apprenticeship program. TV salons did not listen well and gave me a standard symmetrical cut. Color costs more, but the cut is better.

Friends in TV have a stylist who comes to their home for cut and color too. That’s a nice option.

I’ve been going to Aveda salons for years and chose Tuscany when I moved here because they are Aveda. I brought my color recipe with me. I’ve been very happy with how my stylist colors (she tweaked the recipe based on a conversation we had - great tweak!) and cuts. I also observe others in the salon and it just feels like a happy place. I like being there. Cut, color and blow dry runs about $120 + tip. (I also get my pedicures there and love the way they pamper me.)

Try Dina at Renew Hair in Pinellas Plaza by Winn Dixie. She is a color specialist and does a great job of coloring and cutting my hair. She owns the shop and when I watch it looks like everyone does nice job!
