I don't care if these spots are directly in front of the entrance of the facility.
What my main point as of now handicap zones are extra wide to handle wheelchair access, this not only making it easier to get in and out but also protecting damage to vehicles next to them.
And again, distance is not the issue, you want to put a special handicap golfcart space next to the entrance of a facility and put a wheelchair spots at the end of the parking lot I'm fine with that.

I get what you're saying - that people who require transport or wheelchairs, or have handivans with lifts on the side of the vehicle, that can't operate without room to do so - should have spaces dedicated for that purpose. AND that the ONLY people allowed to use those specific dedicated spaces, should be people who require those transport/wheelchairs with or without lifts. I totally get that, and agree. I also would suggest that anyone who is CAUGHT abandoning their empty shopping carriage in the striped area (which is what those wheelchair/transport chair people use to get in and out of their vehicles) should be fined.

I have a Florida disabled license plate with a wheel chair symbol on it. On several occasions I've had someone tell me I couldn't park in a handicap space because they didn't see one of the blue placards hanging from my mirror. Even when someone doesn't say anything, I often get the evil eye.

We have done so for 10 years. Wife has MS. Remove one of the bolts holding the windshield to the driver side frame. punch a hole in the edge of the card and mount it between the frame and windshield using the bolt through the hole. Do not tighten the bolt too tight. You will not forget it and nobody will borrow it.

I would be afraid of someone stealing the placard.
