For me it's Tamale Time!

For many families, Christmastime means tamale time. From the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Dec. 12 through Three Kings' Day on Jan. 6, tamales are a culinary requirement.

That sounds yummy! So, from whom do you get your tamales?

:ho: The days will be getting longer :a040:

I make them with family along with empanadas, pesole, menudo and various condiments but Trader Joe's sells them, both refrigerated and frozen.

I have had TJ’s and they are good, but two of the anesthesiologist brought homemade tamales for tonight’s midnight dinner. My made from scratch Red Velvet, was the starter, and the dessert….:a040:

Tamales seem to be a long process, maybe 2 hours, then eaten in 1 minute. HAHA That's a labor of love! Good for you. Can I get one? :icon_wink:

It’s why people have celebrated this time of year since the Stone Age. I, personally, am fed up with these dark days. Glad I’m no longer farther north!

If you want to fly over to NM, sure! I am over here with extended family. Making tamales around the kitchen table is a family tradition here.

We also make empanadas. The mincemeat ones are my favorite!

Does anybody drink these things? Besides me.
:)

I am visiting my children in New York. The sunrise is about the same time as in Florida. The sunset, however, is an hour earlier than Florida. So our day is even shorter. I can’t wait to get home to Florida
