They can remove the original baseboard, reinstall it, patch the nail holes, and repaint it (they are VERY good at that), or they can replace it with fancier 6” baseboard. I had it replaced, as the cost was quite modest. They cut the new baseboard on the driveway and spray it with primer. Then they install it using a pneumatic finish nailer, then carefully spray a finish coat of paint. I’m glad I had the upgraded trim installed. It looks great. They do exemplary work.

You generally pull all the baseboard and replace it. You can try to save it but some of it will break during removal and you also have to deal with the nails. Better to just replace it. If there is quarter round or a similar shoe at the bottom you may be able to just pull the quarter round and replace that.

LVL is a very easy DIY project if you are planning on floating it....in case that route interests you.

What comes standard in the new builds ? I'm thinking of getting the least expensive flooring (rugs, vinyl) and then replacing it myself. I'd say rug would be the cheapest, but I once had a condo in NY with concrete slab foundation where the rug was glued down. Not the easiest to get up. How are the rugs/vinyl secured to the foundation ? Which would be the least expensive and easiest to replace ?

I had no idea that this would be a problem. I had carpet replaced in my home and there are two open areas where 13ft of seams have been visible from day one. I was told "this is normal". I have never seen this and the carpet that was removed never showed seams. It's quite frustrating that the old installation was better. Have no recourse or any idea how to fix. Ordered thru Robertos, installed by Rafael. Any suggestions or ideas how to fix (short of replacing)
