Like everything else, it depends. Before moving to the villages, I am a pack rat, we did several garage sales and I did thousands per day. Aside wife screamed throw it out.
As i said I had a lot of stuff. We loaded up the car, wife screaming all the way-throw it out. I went to a metal recycler and handed her roughly $500 for what she want to take to the dump.

You are better off if you try to get other neighbors interested in doing one. Several homes will attract more buyers and hopefully prevent neighbors from objecting to the intrusion.

Depending on what you have, I think the Baptist Thrift Store off Citizens blvd or Habitat for Humanity will pick it up at your home-furniture.

I've had several garage sales over the years and really enjoyed the social aspect of them. I had repeat customers over the years. It is work but I've made anywhere from 300.00 to 1,000 depending what I was selling. I think they are not as popular as previous but to me it was always fun to interact with all kinds of friendly people looking for a bargain.

It’s a lot of work and IMO not worth the time of people trying to haggle the price with you. Donate it or sell on the classifies.

donate it all to goodwill, ask for a 'receipt'. go online with their receipt and enter it into the goodwill system, declare your own values for the goods online, print out and use for tax deductions. much better return than a yard sale.

You will waste your time! No one really wants what we have as we found out when we sold our home up north. Could not give it away. Donate to the Salvation Army because they always find a use for it!

My eldest daughter has her own Vintage Clothing Shop. You'd be surprised how much people love that stuff!

I hosted several yard sales prior to moving here. I found them to be fun. I enjoyed meeting the assortment of people who troll yard sales, and I love haggling about a 50c item. If you don't see pleasure/entertainment/amusement in any of those details then don't bother. You can sell the more valuable items on this forum or Marketplace, and toss the rest.

I have had a few yard sales here in NY. Were I live now is off the beaten path and only take in $500 or so on a weekend. Usually getting rid of kid things and household goods. Were I lived previously it was near a highway and one weekend we made $2000 on Saturday and about $1500 on Sunday. We make sure we clean up the items and present them well, you should see how some sales are.
