I love the color of your couch! Because it is so pale I would go with more of a medium shade of color for contrast, maybe a slightly warm soft grayish blue. The rug picks up the color nicely, but later you could add a couple of vibrant pillows, throws, art. Isn’t it fun starting from fresh? I just loved it when we were at this stage of decorating.

I have a suggestion. I have the exact same sofa and large chair. I would suggest an accent wall behind the TV. The villa I have was painted a dark blue gray Goes perfectly with everything and probably your blue rug. You can leave the rest of the walls neutral off white. That solve painting the whole room with a dark blue color.

Sounds delightful!

Sherwin Williams Poolhouse Blue

The wife and I just bought a house and decided to paint the main wall in blue, we unfortunately chose something way too dark.

In our kitchen up north we used poolhouse blue and love it so much we plan to repaint our wall down here the same color

Hi Villagers,

I was hoping some people could advise me on a nice soft blue paint color that would look nice in the main part of the house. Not baby blue! I bought a beige leather couch and loveseat, and it looks terrible with the beige walls (kilim beige). I saw this picture and thought it looked beautiful.

Try Benjamin Moore Summer Shower or Bunny Gray (it has a tinge of blue in it)

You might like the Sherwin Williams color “Misty”.
Also, check out the online company Samplize for peel and stick paint samples.

By asking this question I begin to wonder how you were ever able to buy a house - time to make a decision on your own!!

Check out KylieM Interiors online. She does a great job of describing paint colors. Lots of videos. She addresses undertones and how natural light (or lack of) affects how the color looks in a room. She also talks about specific colors from SW and BM. I watched so many of her videos and found them to be very helpful when we were deciding paint colors here.

blue paint color

Check out Sherwin Williams Reflection (SW7661). It looks gray on the paint chip but on the walls it is nice subtle light blue. Good luck,!

The color paint you like seems to be a silver-blue.
It's a challenge to get just the right color blue in a previous home. I found greater success in looking at the silver-blue tints and was very successful several times.

One thing I didn't know, as your paint sits in the garage it changes it's hue and doesn't necessarily match when trying to repaint a section of wall. Best approach, is to take a piece of painted wall board to Sherwin Williams and they will match it perfectly.

Love the wall color you provided! Good luck!

Samplize is the BEST thing ever. We just repainted our entire interior. And replaced countertops. And wanted a blue in the main living area. The full page size peek and stick are so easy to see and move to various lighting positions etc. and as for color, we ended up with Yarmouth Blue from Benjamin Moore. But Paladium Blue and Catalina Blue were also in the running but a little more on the green side. Good luck. I was very nervous about a complete change of color until I got the Samplize stick ons. Worth every penny and so much easier than making your own samples. One more thing. You can also ask for the finish you want - flat, eggshell, etc

We have painted our living room in a blue that you may find appealing. Come and see it when you make it into town, it might be exactly what you are looking for.

SW 6255
Morning Fog
Google it — looks more blue than gray on walls.

We always use Sherwin Williams paint and as someone said before, eggshell finish for easy cleaning and a consistent tone. I’m sure the SW store can assist!
