Bob Hope once said a house is a hole in the ground that you stand next to and throw money in. The bigger the hole the more you throw. The bigger the hole the fatter the builder and the thinner the buyer.

I called Mark & laughed when TV listed lots for $500,000.

I learned not to laugh at prices.

also this is over 2800 sf, 4 bedroom, 3 bathrooms.

Here's another one in Marsh Bend, it's "only" 2763 sf going for a modest $631,892.

This one doesn't have an oversized garage, merely a 2 car plus golf cart. It doesn't have granite countertops, only quartz. It doesn't have a golf view, only a "view." Gives you a general idea of what the Ivy-10 looks like. I really wish the photos on all the new homes included a picture of each bedroom instead of 5 pictures of the kitchen.

This one is the Lantana, which is being described as a Lantana/Ivy. It has just slightly over 3000sf, and looks to be similar in design. This one is going for $789,900 and is in the Village of Pennecamp:

The house in Marsh Bend is directly across the lake from the Florida Turnpike.

I think it is very "democratic" that I can live in McClure in my $260K Durham (not political, sociological)

And I love the fact that homes like that will elevate the value of my home.

( this is mostly tongue in cheek )

Went to the open house there today, the lot premium for the house is $149,000 which for water front in that area is low as most are $200,000 plus. However, the noise on the lanai from the turnpike was extremely loud and right across the pond is where everyone is riding bikes and walking, no privacy and that is why it's priced at $600 plus rather than $900 plus, it will be sold in the very near future.

I looked at the house from the outside. It is nice, but appears to be one of the only houses on the street that has not sold. The description says it has an oversized garage, but it is only a two car garage with no separate golf cart garage. The other houses on the street have golf cart garages. Seems like a negative for a very expensive house.

And it just sold - I think that proves the point about high end homes.

The price of a home is determined by what it sells for.

We consider our home as part of our savings and security just as we have always done.

Why are you saying "ridiculous, Out of control, No thanks". It just means that the value of what you own is going up.

A rising tide lifts all ships.

Looks like a GOOD thing to me. There is no shame in making money unless you are a drug dealer or a politician.

WOW

This makes me grateful for the home we have for the price we paid. Like many here, I am happy with our home: It meets our needs and wants and it was within our price we determined before looking. It will be forever a work in progress (between decorations and maintenance and minor changes), but we love it and love our neighborhood (All of The Villages for that matter) and that means all the nice people we have met.

We are just starting our journey here (been here about 3 months) and look forward to many, many more years here.

Hi Gracie~ As always...Thank you for your valuable insight & reply. We also consider our homes as our savings and security. I’m sorry, but we’re frustrated with the current pricing. Most homes we’ve looked are between 3-5 years old & selling at a rate of $75,000 - $100,000 in appreciation per year. These are homes with a view and some with a pool. Some are not totally upgraded or decked out in the inside. Yes, our home here has appreciated & it’s a smaller designer, but obviously not at that rate without a view. Also, what one considers upgraded in TV vs another area and State is two different things.
Just sayin ~

Well said.

Been here for six years.
Crazy price growth, but IF I planned well.....the valuation growth will be our childrens'.

Couldn't have a better neighborhood.
(unless I was in yours)
