Default Coontie seeds

I found some bright orange seeds at the Santo Domingo postal station. The shrubs around the station include these dark green leaves and orange bell pepper like seeds at base. They are really cute. They are ALL OVER TV.
Looked them up after I took 4 home to plant.
THEY ARE NEUROTOXIC TO DOGS!!!!!
I have 2 dogs. The seeds are gone and my dogs safe, but what a close call.
PLEASE BEWARE.

Thanks for pointing this out to unsuspecting homeowners. I love counties, too. Another toxic one is Oleander.

I just looked it up, it's toxic to people too, deadly if you eat it without proper "processing." The Seminole Indians used it in cooking. But they must have figured out how to use it safely - it requires fermentation.
