Default New Square

We are buying a house in TV and have been looking at ones in the Village of Amelia. We have been told that a new town center will be opening up in a year or so is it going to anywhere near Amelia Village?

No way the new town square--Brownwood--will open in a year. It was only announced earlier this year and is currently in some stage of a governmental approval process. The general feeling is that it'll open in about three years. It's quite a ways out, on Route 44 just east of Wildwood.

Amelia is close to the geographic center of The Villages. Lake Sumter Landing will be closest to you while you'll be about equidistant from Spanish Springs and Brownwood. I'd guess about 6 or so miles from each. We are in Liberty Park which is about the same distances give or take a quarter-mile. From a location standpoint, you've made a good choice.

jtdraig,

I see you mentioned Liberty Park. We had been looking at Mallory but saw quite a few pre-owned homes for sale in Liberty Park. How do you like it? When we were there in March I noticed that your sign got damaged by the tornado.. How did the rest of your village fare?

The sign was the only thing damaged in Liberty Park. We live on a street that has jelled together...and, in fairness, most streets in the Villages get like that. We are close; play golf weekly even if we can't play; have parties; last night we had 40 people go to the Inland Lakes Railroad for an early evening dinner ride from Eustis to Mt Dora; and, people here are becoming fast friends.....So, we love it.
Poinciana and Mallory took the brunt of the Tornado but you shouldn't judge based on one event...there are few places in the US not affected by tornadic weather.
