Default Historic District in Need

If you have friends who live in the Historic District, please make an effort to reach out to them.

There has been a lot of damage and impassible roads over on the east side and they have been without electricity since early Monday morning.

By now their refrigerators are needing to be emptied and there’s no way to cook food. Houses are getting very warm and there is no AC.

These are some of our most elderly and at risk residents. We haven taken in single ladies from a couple of houses over there and were over there today helping to clean out refrigerators and pick up debris.

But it’s easy for someone to fall through the cracks if no one is checking on them. A single phone call or just stopping by someone you know might make a big difference for someone.

From previous posts there was one person claimed to be staying for their expertise to help out afterwards. Another poster volunteered to share their generator. Any ideas how these good deeds can get coordinated ?

As of 7:23pm when this thread was started it would appear that there is no power on the Historic side.

I have heard differently but am not there to confirm. I'm sure they are trying hard to get everyone going again.

We were just on that side of town visiting a friend. We went in by the medical gate. People had power until we reached Shay. After that it was pitch black. Hopefully they will have all restored soon.

I believe many of our neighbors on the historical side are served by Duke Energy and not SECO. SECO has most of their customers back on-line. In addition, I'm told Leesburg electric provides power for the Fruitland Park Villages. As of this afternoon, some of our neighbors in Pine Ridge were still without power. Hopefully, every resident in TV will have power sooner rather than later.

Duke has said by Sunday in a text message to me that we would be running again. It has been my experience with Duke that they Under Promise and Over Deliver. I'm guessing and praying it will be earlier. For leaving us till last maybe they could show us some love in another way? Who knows it may have been unavoidable. Perhaps there is a Path that would please those who feel slighted? Just Saying??

I was told by someone from one of our clinics (this a.m.) that Duke had a very large "something" take a hit...that needs to be fixed before they can help fix anything else. It "might" be the weekend (????) before they are back on track with that.
