We used to walk the entire path around Hogeye Preserve before they built the golf cart bridge at Water Lily. After they built the bridge, the traffic on the MMP greatly increased. We hated that part of the walk along the MMP, so we stopped doing it.

The traffic greatly in increased because that is the one and only golf cart way to Brownwood from that area.

This really causes me to wonder again, why is it here? Do people not realize there is a great Disc Golf course right at the Lake Okahumpka State Park across the lake on 44? I have played it many times. Beautiful and shaded. Funny thing, they have a parking lot. Just don't understand why Hogeye needs one.

After reading all responses, find another sport.

Because you can't get to Lake Okahumpka by golf cart.

The OP asked for car parking details, not golf cart parking.
Which makes Lake Okahumpka a possible alternative, with on site car parking.

Go past Edna's. turn right into the first street, turn right again, park on the street and walk through someones yard to get over to the trail. Always plenty of parking over there. This is similar to the parking for the Putt and Play course in Fenney.

Yes, we realize there is a disc golf course at Lake Okahumpka State Park, but we stopped going there after a young girl was assaulted a couple years ago.

Now we do our walking on the walking/biking paths in the new sections in The Villages.

I would never go back to Lake O, that is one disgusting place with a lot of disgusting people hanging around, also full of fire ants and dog poop everywhere. Here in TV this is another amenity added to the list for those that like this type of sport. They seem to be trying a lot of new things down south and most of them have been a hit.

Two prime examples of how northern Villagers are not welcome in the south Villages. Too far to go by golf cart. Impossible to get to by car.

Although I manage ok, I cannot walk the long distances required to get to these facilities, and then also walk the course once I get there.

Too far by cart? I’ve been past there several times. Am I doing something wrong?

I interpreted the original comment meant that coming from north villages areas, across the turnpike, and then over to the disc golf course, was what was "too far [to travel] by cart".

So I would expect the same "it's too far" feeling for taking a golf cart going to Ednas, Sawgrass, the new school, etc. But those places also have car parking, so we don't hear those "too far" types of complaints as often.

Sure. I come from north of Brownwood across 44 and across the Turnpike to get to Everglades. Takes me right past the disc golf area. Never felt it was too far at all. Same for Edna’s and Sawgrass. The new school is a haul though.

The disc course feels like the same distance as LSL though LSL takes longer due to more stops.

It's around 9 mins to Brownwood by cart from there and people don't seem to have any issues finding their way to Brownwood.
