Default Home Inspection

Someone told me if I get some type of certifying agency to inspect my home, there is a good chance I can buy home insurance less expensively. I realize this is rather vague, but does anyone out there know what I am talking about?

You are correct but may be too late. For quite some time there was a state-sponsored program of free wind inspections for homes that got you a certificate you could send to your insurance company. That earned me a large discount on my homeowners insurance (over $400/yr). I believe the state sponsored free inspection program has expired (but maybe not). Anyway, you can find details at www.mysafefloridahome.com or calling 1-800-513-6734. You want to ask about a "Wind Inspection Report".
