Lysander just set me up for this deal. He drove right over and set up same day installation...no charge. Thanks for posting the info!

That price is as long as you proivide your own modem and that doesn't include taxes. It's $40/month if you use their modem. And you are getting 500Mbs download and only 20Mbs Upload and you share the system with the rest of your neighbors which incourages buffering at peak times.

For $50/month, slightly more money, no contract, no taxes, no fees, and no limit on the pricing you can get Quantum fiber 500/500 mbs, with the latest Wi-Fi 7 equipment included.

Lysander is a nice knowledeable guy but if you can get Quantum Fiber and you need internet, it's the best service.

So for only $350+ he can get the same service he has now but with fancy equipment and additional upload bandwidth he will never use.

I had cable internet for 20+ years and never noticed a slowdown due to capacity issues. YMMV but it isn’t worth $350+ to me to solve a problem I’ve never had.

On thing to look out for if you are upgrading your Router. You may have items running on the 2.5gh and will not run on 5gh. Some routers no longer on the lower bandwidth.

Actually, it's the older 2.4 Ghz devices that are having trouble connecting to the newer Wi-Fi systems. Most of the newer Wi-Fi systems have the 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz and 6Ghz radios. There are none that remove the older 2.4Ghz band because it's stil used. The problem is some older printers and other older wifi devices get confused and won't connect with the newer Wi-Fi bands present since they will only connect with the 2.4Ghz band. I haven't seen too many devices recently that won't work with the new Quantum Wi-Fi system but if you have a problem like that, Quantum will provide you free of charge a device that will connect up to these older 2.4 Ghz devices.

If you have questions on anything to do with your home internet such as which router or wifi device should I buy, my TV buffers in the Lanai so what can I do, I don't get strong internet signal in the garage for my computerized irrigation controller, should I put RJ45 connectors on all my ethernet cables, what's the difference betwee an ethernet switch and a hub, do I need Wifi7, should I hardwire or use wireless for my devices, should I cancel my Internet and try another company because I'm not happy with my service or is my installation not correct, why is my cable so slow after 8pm every night or when it's cold or rainy out, or any kind of technical question or problem you may be having, please post here and we can discuss the answers.

This thread is NOT to talk about which Internet service is the cheapeast. I believe that discussion has been heavily discussed.

I know of one such installation at a friends home in Middleton.

I have ubiquity business class router and wifi access point in the ceiling. I don't use their cloud network management system, but I use their local nms on my laptop. Same as at home here in MA

Sorry to hear this but you are not alone. I'm totally shocked how many people who I sign-up for Quantum Fiber here in the Villages have extreemly poor wifi passwords that the hackers always try first and have no or very outdated security software on their computers.

Anyway, looks like the fire stick guy is helping you which is great but if you need any additional help please reach out to me as well.

If home wifi systems are barely strong enough to extend through the house, where is this hacker that is breaking in using the wifi password physically located, in his garage?

Now, if what he is really asking for is someone to help change the router password...

Good point! Maybe the OP can give us more information so we can all learn from what happened?

After 8pm is the highest usage time period so with cable internet you and everyone else will slow down. Those who pay for higher mega bits will probably not notice it. You need something from 300MB or higher.

To get better coverage throughout your house invest in a Mesh Router. I have a three unit Mesh and can get coverage anywhere in my house and even out in my yard. They work really well.

Urgent Router Help Please?

There is so much bad info on home networks on these types of posts. Most of the time when somebody has slow WiFi, they blame xfinity/spectrum, which is a fallacy. Xfinity. Spectrum, or any other isp, has nothing to do with your WiFi, that’s totally on you, they have nothing to do with your internal network. Most of the isp providers give you 1 modem/router and that’s it, which is insufficient for total coverage. For example, I have a 4 mesh router network in my house so I can totally automate every area in and around my house. If I go into a bedroom, I still get up to 800Mb speeds, I can go out in the garage and get the same speed, or on my lanai. This is due to using the backhaul of the newer 6e and above mesh networks and in some cases, hardwired connections to each router. In most rooms I have a switch connected to the router so all my devices in these rooms think they are hardwired which is much faster than when the device would use the 2.4ghz WiFi. I just designed a whole house network for a friend of mine and he is using more routers to get the coverage he needs.
$75 for 1Gb internet is expensive, I’ve been paying $39 for 1.2Gb.
1 other question that comes up regularly, fiber isp or xfinity/spectrum? Always go with fiber, it will always be a cleaner sounding connection, faster speeds especially upload speed, and much more reliable. When you pay for 1Gb speed, you will get 1Gb download speed as well as 1Gb upload speed, compared to any copper network like xfinity/spectrum where for 1Gb download speed, you’ll get 20-40Mb upload,iAd speeds, which is a joke.

My second day in The Villages I was hacked....I've replaced my laptop and phone but I'm told the hackers have my ISP address...Spectrum tells me to change the password on my router or get a new one to solve that issue...would you be kind enough to help me?
