Default Home Security or Not

Looking into home security and wondering what is to little if anything? What is enough and any recommendations for companies?

Thanks so much for your posts.

I used VillageAlarms. They have a website. They did a clean job at a reasonable price.

A neighbors house was broken into shortly after we moved in, so we decided on a DIY system. I will not provide details on a public forum, but there are several on the market, and most have no monthly cost or an arrangement where you can signup for monthly monitoring if you desire.
The Sumter County sheriff offers an onsite review of your house and makes specific suggestions to make it more burglar proof, we found this to be very useful.
Only you can determine the level of protection you want, local alarm, remote monitored alarm, on site video, video sent to the web and your phone, etc.

Default I will give you details

For a diy system you need internet, a hub (the brains) a siren and a few sensors. 199.00 Wink Lookout Smart Security Starter Kit with Wink Hub 2, Motion Sensor, Siren & Chime, Door/Window Sensors - - Amazon.com. If you want to get advanced it is easy to set this up to arm when you or you and someone leave the home based upon your location. Of course it automatically disarms when you arrive. That is if you carry a cell phone

Edit to add, no fee Of any kind. You can get notifications if there is an alarm or trigger other events such as turning on every light in the home or alert someone else (family, or other interested persons)

We used Simplisafe in our home up north. 15 a month for monitoring and an easy self install.

We used Thoroughbred Security from Ocala. Honeywell equipment, full service. They were recommended by our Security Company in PA.

Andre at Village Alarms; he and his helper Dave did a fantastic job installing our alarm and camera system.
