I believe, that 'Da Family' believes, that the participation rate for golf will continue to decline and they are therefore going to concentrate on providing those things...they think future retirees are going to want. Whatever that turns out to be. |

Interesting point. I hadn't thought of that.

I think you may well be right on this.

In the two years that they have been working down here, 36 holes of Executive golf are open, Pitch and Put opens in a few days, another executive 18 holes as well as a Championship course are now in the works, that's not bad for 24 months.

Dear Vintage. I don't know why this topic was introduced. My hair trigger response was in protecting the feelings of those living in the new areas which always seem to be the butt of criticism. I don't know why, but it happens all of the time. I don't know if it is people who can't live in The Villages and wish they could, or it is outlanders who don't like older people, or people who have NEVER even seen the new areas or those who are against more development in The Villages or people who are anti-developer for a variety of reasons that I have gone over and over again, or is it is just they are "contrarians"??? We have three friends who have bought in your area and love it. They had lived in other areas of The Villages. Every time we come down to eat there and drive around I think how lovely it is. I hope, Vintage, that you both enjoy your home and your village and your area for many, many years to come.

They are not golf cart people, too loud and smell like gas to her, so driving a car to places was not a big deal. They are not quite ready to retire, but I can see the Southern Oaks amenities might be tailored more to this type of retiree. |

First we had her ride in a 2018 Street Rod, then a 2016 electric par cart with big wheels. Also tried out the 2017 quiet tech Yamaha yesteryear. Was not happy with any of them. Some folks just don’t like golf carts. I love them, so I prefer to live where I can get everywhere by golf cart.

We live in Osceola Hills and we love to walk and bike together. That is hard in our neighborhood because we have to dodge the cars on the road and have to dodge the carts on the MMPs. We had been going to creepy Lake Okahumpka just so we could at least walk side-by-side. For the last few months we have been walking thru Linden and Monarch Grove on Sundays when there are no workers, but now they are building wonderful pedestrian walking paths around Hogeye Marsh and they are absolutely beautiful. According to the plans, golf carts will not be allowed. We love what we see. Yeah, we do not even own a golf cart. We play a lot of golf on the Exec courses and always walk. |

What’s your point Paul? Is there a conspiracy theory lurking in your mind? Who cares?? Thousands of people already live there. The area is providing hundreds of good jobs. Thousands more will live there. It’s called progress.

We are several years from retiring, but we are on the hunt for a nice warm place to land. TV seems to have the best formula of the places we've investigated. Holding to that formula will continue to attract people, and TV will grow. It'd be interesting if The Developer would jump to a disconnected area - like Sarasota - and start an entirely new TV style development. But someone is going to buy up all the pasture & farmland in central FL & turn it into housing for northerners. It may as well be TV's developer. And based on my wife & I planning to move to TV, her parents are in the process of moving there, and they've mentioned the place to several of their friends and some of them are now looking at moving down. A good product sells itself.

I absolutely agree with you. I have never heard so many residents complain so much about The Villages uncontrolled rapid growth of home builds and population growth we are experiencing. It is far outpacing the resources that it takes to make for a comfortable life in The Villages. Many weeks, to get an appointment with a Medical Specialist Doctor is only one example. I have a long list of other related problems. Personally, my “Record” to see a Specialist is 14 weeks. It is still problem, even during non-Snow Bird Times of year. I suggest we attend POA Meetings and present a United Front. There is a huge post on Facebook, about this overcrowded. The related Complaints, of Overcrowding, hugely overwhelm any positive comments. This negative situation needs to be brought under control. Many residents are looking at moving elsewhere, already.
