I would leave it filled. It would prevent drying out of seals, etc. Many spas today are salt, as are pools. With salt, I would think you wouldn't have to add any extra, especially if no one was using it for 4-6 months. You would shout the heater off, and just run it on its daily maintenance cycle.

Seals and impellers drying out, hmm. They aren’t made of leather anymore. I hope you can decide, you have enough recommendations.

Made of rubber. Dry rubber gets brittle. Impellers that are bent in one position for six months get stiff. Been there, done that, don't need another T-shirt.

We were told not to drain as insects or spiders can get into the tubing. We leave ours filled, turn down the temperature and it’s fine after 3 months.
