Depends on what area you are in. I don't go south of 44 at dusk because the mosquitos down there are unbearable. Many areas are sprayed and I've never had a problem where I am. I'm a mosquito magnet, but never been bitten here north of sumter landing.

I live way up north and rarely see mosquito. But, have colony of brown bats close, maybe they keep them under control?

I think that's the problem, those complaining are below 44. No problems in Tamarind Grove along St. Charles Blvd.

Hi fellow Villagers! does anyone have any experience in using a hot tub at their home but not covered under a Lanai? Trying to figure out if we need to spend $8-10k (ouch) on a Lanai extension or just install the hot tub on our BBQ patio area and see if the bugs/insects will be tolerable? (We would predict most of our Hot tub use will be after the sun goes down, post-golf rounds).

We have been using our recently purchased hot tub in our birdcage for two months. Using it mainly in the evening. No problems to date but warmer weather may be a different story. We love it❗️

Starting in May you may have to add ice to keep the water from boiling. I drain mine in April and do not fill again till November. It is on the lanai.

Exactly, in fact a birdcage will not keep rats out, I've had them chew through my lanai because I had bird seed on the lanai. I soon put the seed in a plastic tub with a lid and the problem was solved.

When had mine I just turned the heat down to 80 degrees, also I drained my every 2 months and done through cleaning. I got this model spotted cause it small. Both seats lay back. Not that expensive, and it plug and play which I already wired for.

I have stored Christmas decorations in 5 gallon thick Home Depot buckets with lids and had mice chew through them when no food was involved!

Maybe they can’t smell it being it’s sealed air tight?

We have the same setup. Considering a hot tub. Do you have to get ARC approval? Permits?

What is the purpose of a hot tub? Besides sitting in hot water and having a few drinks what purpose do they serve?

Does there need to be more?

I find sitting in hot water and having a few drinks rather enjoyable and relaxing.

Occasionally, the jets work to relax a sore back or the hot water soothes some aching muscles.
