We had those in our condominium complex in Michigan. The problem was people used them to let the pizza delivery people know which condo was theirs.:ohdear:

:agree:And we have proof of that. If we don't have them in our next house, we will get them and put them up.

Spotlights on EMS vehicles work wonders for illuminating pole mounted numbers, not to mention the ugly stick on numbers the builder puts on are not lighted. Another consideration as to why we removed ours was not only aesthetic, but our trees blocked them anyways.

In some areas, not in TV house #'s were painted on the curbs with reflective paint

The previous community I lived in before moving to TV was Legacy of Leesburg. 1,000 homes - and standard in each house was a red switch near the foyer wall switches for the outside lights. This switch -when flipped- would flash the post light on<>off. For EMT alert to find your house. ....of course, this is ONLY good when dark, and not if you were one of those "I've fallen and can't get up...or crawl...folks"

Why in the world would you want to place tacky vinyl numbers that look awful, IMHO, in your front window? Those numbers really should be removed once the home is sold and the owner has their sign put on the lamp post. It really looks silly to me to see vinyl numbers in the front window AND a lovely post sign with the same numbers. Homes don't need both to display house numbers.

If you don't like my tacky numbers.....please look the other way.

Honestly, they do look bad to me. But....to each his own. Our community is so beautiful, those vinyl numbers look like they don't belong here.

They are there for a reason. It helps the Emergency Personnel find your home easier especially at night as they are reflective. I know I'm going to get blow back on this but that's why they're there. Having ridden on EMS they do help !

I was told the same thing when the ENS had to come at night

They're still ugly and so out of place

vintageogauge 02-20-2018 05:29 PM

we were told by the builder to leave them on for the safety forces to easily see them so on they will stay.

Numbers were removed on our preowned home. Previous owner took down their sign on the post. We closed by mail and didn’t realize there was not an address on our house.

EMS came to the house twice for my parents in less than 3 minutes each time, in the dark never said a word that there was not numbers on the house.

It was the UPS guy that mentioned it to my Mom when he delivered a package the following week.

Our first two houses were new so numbers were always there, never thought about someone removing them from a preowned.

Lets hope you do not have a fire in the first couple of years or someone make a mistake in the data base.

This is the RIGHT answer, you want help fast in an emergency, aesthetics are not as important. As a Community Watch patrol driver on the overnight shift, I would also say that if you leave your garage doors open with your fancy golf clubs exposed you might not find them in the morning. We call open doors in to the dispatchers who then call you with an alert. if we can't see your address....well. Also, please don't walk or bike ride at night with dark clothing and no safety lights, very dangerous.

We were required to have the curb numbers in our NJ town but it didn't do much good when it snowed and plowed snow covered it for weeks at a time. Really seemed like a dumb idea for emergencies where there was snow. [emoji3]

I really don’t care if that’s the case.
