As Jazuela so accurately stated earlier (and even with the current 102 voters) the percentages haven't changed much...from the beginning of the poll.

Thanks for the .jpg. I can see it now. Fun poll.

No problem...glad to help. :ho:

It IS an interesting/fun poll, in that there has been a bit of a slight surge of late...by those claiming 3 or more houses.

Alternate user accounts, voting more than once, to try and prove the now busted myth...that the 'average' Villager owns 3 homes?

Especially since I'm the one that started it...and I have so many fans? :D

We'll never really know of course...I just personally find it interesting.

Not that it makes much difference overall though, because out of the current 105 voters...60% say only one house and about 24% claim two houses.

Well below the 3 house average.

The way my realtor worded it was the average Villager WOULD (note future tense here) move three times in the Villages. Assuming dead people aren’t voting, and not a huge amount of people voting that already left the Villages and will never return, most of these votes are only of those that think they will never move or move again.

Between family members and myself, we’ve bought a few houses in the Villages. One from someone moving away from the Villages, so they would be in the one house camp. They moved here, it wasn’t for them, and they sold two years later. One elderly lady died in her original house after having a long, active life here in the Villages.

But the rest were people who now happily reside elsewhere in the Villages. In one case they divorced and are both living elsewhere in the Villages. In one case they bought too small, and moved to a bigger house. In another they found their house too big after their spouse died, so they moved to a smaller house. In our present neighborhood about 1/3 of the residents have moved within the neighborhood once. I’m sure some of these people thought they were one and done at one time.

There will always be anecdotal stories.

Having personally only dealt with a Villages (so-called) 'realtor' for a short period and eventually buying a FSBO, I usually looked with a jaundiced eye...at a lot of the claims (like the 3 houses average) she made.

But hey, maybe that's just me and my unending thirst & quest...to learn actual facts and the truth.

I've never been very good at just believing things said...on face value.

And all polls on this site are of the utmost accuracy!

And then there will be those who eschew anything with even a tangential association with actual science or facts...if it conflicts with their own agenda or 'gut feelings.'

'Flat-earthers' and 'holocaust deniers' being but just a couple...of a plethora of examples. :ohdear:

Currently 111 voters and %'s are staying pretty consistent...with about 17% claiming 3 or more houses.

Sometimes we hear things and remember them differently. It is indeed possible that your agent said "People have three homes on average here in The Villages" and it is possible he/she said "It is not uncommon for people to move two or three times in The Villages".

One fact that is reliable is that our memory is not as great as we age.

My parents are the one and done, close to ninety. In their mind, However thats not how it’s going to work. They either will need inhome care ( not enough room) or move to a different house, or assisted living. So either way they are 2 homes here. My home is not wheelchair friendly, bath or kitchen, or doorway.

Nope, that's not what she said at all.

ColdNoMore 04-02-2019 02:15 PM

122 total votes now, no significant change in percentages, so the "average of 3 houses" myth...continues to stay busted. :ho:

Maybe it's just me, but it sure seems like we've had quite a few new members (and a couple who show registered for years) showing up in other threads...who are making either their 1st or less than 5th post.

I can't help but wonder...if they've voted here?
:D

We moved into our fifth house in October. DeSoto next to a beautiful park.
