We now have over three months with no outbreaks attributed to resumed outdoor activity in the Villages

I'd be curious to know where that came from. There have been a number of Covid cases in The Villages main zip codes in Sumter & Lake. Not a huge amount but over 600 and most of them in the last 3 months. Do you know how they got infected?

Facebook allows many of us to laugh at each other and commiserate with each other daily, and we have a bunch of folks who do just that from The Villages. The only people who are missing this are the ones who think it is dangerous to communicate on Facebook. You certainly can't catch Covid-19 there.

We live together, my husband of 58 years, our daughter who is 55, and our two cats. We cook and clean and communicate with others in myriad ways. We enjoy the front porch and the back lanai and our pool. A lot of people have added pools recently here in The Villages. Husband plays 18 holes four times of week. Stays in his own cart, doesn't eat lunch out, doesn't touch anything anyone touches on the course. He is our "purchasing agent" and it has been fun and interesting to see what he brings home from the grocery. We are blessed to live in a home filled with laughter and fun and good health and don't really mind this pause in social interaction in person.

We have seen far worse and far scarier times than this. Two of us have survived cancer. One of us have had three operations with the heart lung machine...not heart surgery with stents. We have lived long enough to have witnessed extreme sadness and loss of life to those we loved and heartbreaking situations. Our home today is a sweet retreat and soft place to land for awhile.

What a lovely post ! I must confess I'm not a FB person, only looked at some pages a few times, don't even have a profile and page and all that, but my point is it brings you joy, golf brings your husband joy, what makes me so curious is WHY people are so nasty (on here, on FB, etc.). If someone says they are not interested in going into pools at this time, another will make some nasty comment, almost a subtle way to make fun of them for "not living". I've seen the same thing on posts about folks who still enjoy going out to lunch and dinner, then others feel compelled to make a nasty comment like on I saw on Facebook page that said " hope you enjoy that dinner with a side of ventilator" ! Can you imagine, a human being, a fellow resident, feeling compelled to write something like that to another retired person here just because they decided not to allow the possibility of a random virus making them ill to keep them from celebrating a birthday as they wished ? Is it the relative anonymity that makes people so judgmental and nasty to others when they are on these on line forums ? BTW, like you, I've been home more and cooking more.... trying more new recipes than I have for some years...LOL ! No place to go, used to love concerts, plays, going to the symphony in Orlando, and yes, TOTV which I have not been on this much for years, but just don't feel compelled to condemn my neighbors for swimming, golfing, biking, or just staying in reading, on computer, and binge TV watching....LOL ! Again, what a great uplifting post, live your life in the way that gives you pleasure:coolsmiley:

Pools

We went 2x in the early summer, as we r away now , however 1 st time great few people there, and the girl at the desk told us to turn down the back of the lounge when we leave , so she can sanitize the chair before the next people come in . Great idea . The 2 nd time , people left and others came in and sat in the Same chairs . I didn’t like that , the girl at the desk didn’t tell us that time. This was at Bridgeport at Lake Sumter

I came down to TV to my house in July and went to the neighborhood pool almost every day. Felt very safe. There werent many people and very well distanced in and out of the pool. I did use the chairs and just showered when I came home. made sure to sanitise my hands before getting in my golf cart and washed my beach towels when I came home. If you are nervous, no harm in wearing a mask in and out of the water.(as long as you don't stick your head under the water) LOL. I am VERY, VERY cautious about Covid coming from LI, NY and it was great talking to people at the pool. Oh, one of the days I went and when I saw more people than I was comfortable with , I turned around and went home. Came back a few hours later and EMPTY!

I don't expect chairs to be sanitized every time someone leaves. Just don't touch your face.

As an aside............ I go to the Planet Fitness Gym in Leesburg because the fitness centers in TV are now closed. Everyone is responsible to wipe down the equipment when they are done. I wipe down all the touch points but not the seats or the backs of the equipment. It does not make much sense to expect every single square inch of the equipment to be sanitized after every use. Same with lounge chairs at the pool.

Just don't touch your face.

Thank you ! I like getting on here and seeing what is going on with others, but some makes me just sick really, when people literally "lecture" people about how they are just not "living" because they are staying close to home, and at the other extreme, "lecture others on the evils of going out for a special dinner, or having company come play cards. It's almost hard to believe that if someone writes that they had some couples over to play cards because their dance club, or state club is no longer meeting, then someone they don't even know (probably ?) gets on here and says "YOU are the kind of people we don't need here !" Wow !

Some people feel they need to tell others how to live their lives.

Having said that we have seen to many people ignore social distancing putting others at risk. Will say something politely when we are on line and person behind us is too close but other than that mind my own business.

I tend to agree completely, nothing in my education and limited knowledge of virus transmission tells me it is transmitted in chlorinated water. That does not make sense, maybe more if it were a bacteria ? That part I am definitely not confident about here at The Villages is the "properly maintained" part. You sure don't see attendants taking in person test samples every two hours (as well as the computerized auto monitoring systems that do sometimes fail to give accurate readings and additions of the proper chemical balances) like you do at resorts, hotels, public swimming pools, and cruise ships ! Always wondered why we don't see these in person tests like at other places ? I am used to it now, but was shocked years ago that showers were only a "suggestion", and many people make no attempt to shower before getting into the water. That was very strange as I never lived where it was not mandatory, but apparently it is not a health risk here ?

It done in late evening after sun going down in all pools except three that’s allowed to be open after sun down.
