Do you live in a house? If you do, and you want to live in harmony with all of God's creatures, you really should tear down that house and restore the land back to what it was before men came here. In fact, you should be working hard to have all of the houses, building, roads and bridges destroyed and have things returned to the way they were.

Millions of these obnoxious creatures were killed in the construction of everything we have. I wouldn't call that living in harmony with God's creatures.

If you don't believe that man is superior to all other animals and has the God given right to used them as he sees fit, then you have to be a bit hypocritical to live in a house or drive a car or play golf.

From the beginning of time, man used other animals for food, shelter and clothing. I was taught that this is part of nature and that God put those animals here for our use.

And in the construction of all this "stuff" man has, and in his "right" to use animals as he sees fit, American alligators were nearly hunted to extinction in the 1950s and 1960s, and in 1967, officially were under protection of the Endangered Species Act.

So somebody thinks they're something other than obnoxious.

I think if you read Genesis 1 again you will see that while God gives us rule over the animals in verse 28, that is very different than permission to eat them. In the very next verse it sures sounds like he wants us to be vegetarians.

28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.

So, if you use the Bible as your moral authority, you have to use it all I would think.

Every night about midnight my wife and I walk around the area where the gator was today. We do a one hour walk and just last week I bought a high powered flashlight for this very reason. Last night as we were walking I was telling my bride that she "needs to keep her light on and pay attention". She rolled her eyes.
Of course I was overjoyed to show this posting to her today. Her response "a broken clock is right twice a day".
Expect to see 2 bright flashlights from now on.
Thanks for informing us about the gator.

Thank goodness we have evolved over the years to respect animal life.
Of course there are situations when people are in danger and animals must be eliminated.
But in my humble opinion, we should respect animals and try to live in harmony with them.

Rubicon, so, if illegals take that state of Florida away you will be ok with that? Regardless if you were here first? Are you really ok with exterminating everything below you in the food chain, or just those with big teeth?

They must be out in force during mating season. Saw one this morning about 1030AM on the Saddlebrook golf course making it's way across a golf cart path into the pond. Had to be in excess of six feet long. By the way, my golf ball tends to like a swim occasionally but if it's anywhere near water, that golf ball is short money in my estimation.

WOW! I guess that takes care of the biblical quoting folk puffing up that we have dominion over the other creatures so that means we can eat them. Thank you so much for that BarryRX.
