Is Denmark near Norway Maine? We stopped there once when visiting the tourmaline shop. Probably also passed it when enroute to Bar Harbor from Vermont's route 2.........towards Bangor, etc.....

We saw them sandbagging the Jersey shore on the news this morning....
Again, stay safe..........

denmark is approx 30 mins away from norway, an hour nw of portland and 30 mins east of north conway, nh. 15 mins from norway is oxford, maine - where we enjoy going to the new casino that opened in july [10 mil in earnings in first 2 mos - no word on expenses, tho].

batteries are bought, lanterns are unpacked, water bottles chilling in freezer, propane tanks for grills filled, cars topped off with gas, extra cash taken from bank today, all meds accounted for, gallons of water stored for drinking/cooking/teeth, wipes unpacked for cleansing, paper goods/plastic ware unpacked, manual cork screw available and gas for the generator is stored. bring it on - we're jersey folks! also learned a lot from mainers when they faced the ice storm years ago when they were packing snow pails and cut up frozen tree limbs in their fridges and melting snow on the back up wood stoves for drinking, etc!

almost looking forward to a couple of days to enjoy crafting instead of doing errands and chores! ;)

lanabanana73 - wise decision! gov cuomo did or plans to declare a state of emergency in order to muster equip to necessary areas; govs of ny/nj also requested power companies to send additional work crews; nj gov ordered round-the-clock staffing of off of emerg mgmt; cape may, nj has voluntary evac going on thru sat - becomes mandatory sun; low lying communities in central nj are advising residents to move cars to higher ground and treasured items to second floor; local univ closed campus for mon/tues. that's about it for now - am sure there will be more to come...like maybe snow in the shenandoah mtns!

I always thought the Florida weather wizards had it best. With the exception of an on-coming hurricane you just type out one forecast and repeat.. "Sunny today with a 30% chance of afternoon showers or T-Storms". That'll be 40k + bennies please.

am really hoping they are ALL WRONG this time! so many evacuations being ordered here on the jersey shore! states of emergency declared. no bottled water in stores. no generators in lowes, home depot or even grainger's! warnings being sent to people on oxygen and electric medical devices! even local lakes are being lowered with these HUGE pumps! it is really beginning to get a bit scary!

if anyone has family in the monmouth/ocean county area that needs to be checked on before monday, pm me and i will try to assist. don't plan on leaving the house after sun afternoon!

This is the result of our "sue 'em for everything" society. Government agencies are so quick to pull the trigger because they fear lawsuits later from the zips who don't know enough to come in out of the rain.

I am certain that come tomorrow morning there won't be a drop of milk, a crust of bread or a bottle of water anywhere in the Baltimore metro area. Of course they do that here when there's a forecast for an inch of snow too.

Not a bad day in The Villages...windy and warm...got a little gusty later. Our neighbor's bottlebrush tree blew over..the post supporting it cracked right through..the tree just appeared bent. I do hope the storm isn't as bad as it is being forecasted for everyone in the northeast...keep safe and warm!

Be safe all my TOTV friends. Saying a prayer for you as I was able to dodge much damage in Boynton Beach. Fingers and toes crossed for no damage and most importantly your safety! Post back barring any signal complications in the next days!

Don't expect it to be anything major.

You and I have Long Island Sound between us, there are several trackers saying the eye may go E to W right up the Sound.

Stay tuned....

Njbchbum,
Where are located on the Jersey shore? We are in Point Pleasant Beach, just a block from the ocean. Battening down the hatches and getting prepared as well. No mandatory evacuation yet, but have a feeling that might be coming.

To everyone in Sandy's path, please STAY SAFE!!

just north of you - above asbury. i love ppb! spent MANY 2 wk vacations there as a kid! mom sold ocean front cottage in chadwick beach a few years ago - phew! glad we're not worryin' about that house, too!

i heard mantoloking had vol evac orders already! and saw all of the sandbagging going on @ jenk's on the 6pm news. we're a mile in from the beach with lots of home between us - so not too worried there.

do you follow http://www.facebook.com/JerseyShoreHurricaneNews - oodles of great and current info there!

stay safe and head west as soon as they tell ya! went thru the 1992 storm with the chadwick house and it wasn't easy! holler if ya need something!

Thanks for the Facebook link. I'll check it out. Next few days should be interesting to say the least. I'm probably going to head up to my mom's in Monroe Twp. to keep her company during the storm. Hubby can keep an eye on things here.
