You are disabled. You've already stated as such, plus you need the lift to get you in and out of the pool. What happens if you become fatigued and just need to get out of the pool, but you can't make it to the lift? If there was a lifeguard on duty, the answer to that question would be "the lifeguard."

It's a pretty straightforward concern, however I agree it was insensitive of them to make an issue of it. The question applies to them, as well. What if THEY are in the pool and for whatever reason find themselves unable to get out of it, but want/need to?

The possibility of drowning by virtue of the fact that there are no lifeguards on duty and you are ALWAYS entering the pool at your own risk - can be scary if you grew up in and spent most of your life in a community where the community pools were not ALLOWED to open if there was no lifeguard on duty.

It wasn't a reflection you at all. It was a reflection on the lack of lifeguards, from people who aren't accustomed to that.

As for the person in the store - buttheads come from all states. You happened to run into one of the New England varieties. Just remember when a lovely cheerful southern lady says "well bless your heart!" - she probably means something entirely different.

These Villages pools are 5 to 6 feet deep. Never seen a lifeguard in any of them during the 13 years we have been here.

They are also very cliquish. The same people show up every day it seems like to certain pools. The people do watch out for one another though. I have never heard of any drowning in them even though a heart attack in one does seem to ring a bell of some kind. Cannot really remember the details of that.

When I run into one of these cliques I tell them I'm from the Village of Spruce Creek..... that usually starts an interesting conversation. :boxing2:

It takes all kinds to make a world. Each new person we meet is an adventure. Some are a trip, others are a journey.

OP,
I am sorry that you ran into these very crude and small people, and these people do NOT represent the majority of the TV residents. I thank you for your service, while I did not serve, my father, uncle, and grandfather did, so again, a big thank you. I agree with many of the comments above, these people were wrong on so many ways. You took the high ground, good for you, and please continue to enjoy TV.

We are within minutes from 5 pools, we can rotate, some people can be down right mean. But most of the time we are at the club pools. Never a problem, most of the time we are the only ones there.

I’m so sorry to hear about what happened to you.
There is absolutely no excuse for that kind of behavior from anyone.

And in addition to their mean spirited comments they had to say them LOUDLY.

Mean people come from all states and walks of life.
I understand you were venting from anger.

Unfortunately you can’t fix stupid, nasty people.

Just remember - KARMA. ☺️
