Default I saw an American Eagle with my own eyes.

Today on the course just off Enrique drive, on the eighth hole we were putting and I looked over to the water and in it stood this humongous dark bird pecking around in the water. It was close enough that I could see that he was wearing kinda feathery "britches" and had a white head and a hooked nose.

I could NOT believe my eyes. I was less than fifty feet from an American Eagle. I couldn't hole out.

I am still getting chill bumps.

Default So appropriate that the eagle is the American symbol!

Last week we witnessed an eagle having breakfast in the Village of Valle Verde pond, an awsome sight!

Montezum Park in Seneca New York has had a very sucessful breeding program for the last 10 years. The young have ranged out for their own territory.

Our rental home in Cortland has a young Adult. The bird hunts the river in back of our house. A magnificant bird to watch up close.

That's great! I'll bet that many will now be looking forward to a birdie on the 8th hole, but not everybody will succeed!

Have seen a Bald Eagle resting on top of one of the power line towers at the De La Vista Executive Golf Course a few years back. I also played golf on the recently re-opened Chula Vista Golf Course yesterday for the first time since it opened and saw that about 2 dozen Canadian Geese had moved in. Hope they are migratory and not permanent residents because they can become a real nuisance and they leave their droppings everwhere.

Hmmm. When an American Eagle relieves himself, is it little gold coins?

A magnificent large female has hunted from our oak tree for the last 5 years. Her fledgling now hunts from the tree also. The young one just got his white head this year so I guess he is four to five years old. Mama comes screaming in and always announces her arrival. She will continue to make noise until I go outside and start talking to her. Only then will she pipe down.:-) The young one does not announce his arrival. If you are golfing Riley, between the 6th and 7th hole bridges, look to the top of the huge oak on your right. I point her out to some of the golfers as they pass by and they are delighted. This week a group of US Marines golfed and I showed her to them. They were thrilled to see her.
