Ask yourself this about wearing a helmet on a motorcycle.

What about your back, arms, legs?
Helmets only help to protect from brain damage, (mostly).

Wearing helmets on a motorcycle is like "having a peeing section in a swimming pool."

Living in Wisconsin during a weeklong Harley Davidson birthday bash in Milwaukee, a cyclist was on radio said he refuses to wear any helmet.
He claims if he was in an accident, he wanted to die then to be feed through a straw.

To each his own, I guess.

I saw a young couple in a golf cart where the wife (very heavy) had a very young child on her lap (not all that unusual) but she had a seat belt around the child and her!
All I could think of is what would happen if they got into an accident. She would slice that kid in half!

From your description of the woman, perhaps there is enough cushion to help protect the kid?

To think, some of us survived growing up without seat belts! I saw someone driving a motorcycle without a helmet on his head the other day. Pretty sure he was in his 70's, unless he is just weather aged. Seriously though, I often wonder why I see some guys driving golf carts with their leg hanging out the side.

From the posts you would think no one has ever done anything stupid.
I have a scar where I split my thumb longitudinally. Perhaps, a reminder when you THINK I should not do that it is usually correct.

Guys with leg hanging out. Guys are not made like women are.

Sorry, I didn't take any pictures. BUT.......that image is embedded in my brain forever. That adult male made himself looks like a pretzel as he crouched in a position to be able to fit on the back of that cart while "sitting" down.

Who would be at fault if that type of accident happens? The guy who fell off the back of the cart or the driver who accidentally runs over him? I know for sure that if it were me driving behind a cart with a person on the back, I would put a lot of car lengths between me and that cart.

If something happens, if you can't stop you are in the deep and murky. They will try to pin you for following at an unsafe distance.

While not the most safe, I think we have been conditioned to what safe is.most of us used to not think twice about riding in the back of a pickup on the highway. If the drivers are careful and 3rd passenger holding on is also, that is probably much safer than an electric scooter.

More than likely, he was actually safer than the folks in the front that most likely did NOT have seat belts. He was holding on, they probably were using their hands to talk.:girlneener:

All it would take is for that cart to be hit by a vehicle and I doubt that guy would continue to grip those straps. He would have been ejected from that cart in the event of an accident. I would bet money on it.
