My husband and I had quite a few dogs - mostly big standard poodles and setters, never small dogs. But the best dog we ever had was a little lost and starving mutt that I found in a rainy parking lot in Miami one night in 1977. He had a lot of terrier in him and God knows what else. We named him Reggie because that was the year of Reggie Jackson, and we told people that he was an alligator terrier because he would have happily taken on an alligator if one had threatened us.

Theres nothing like a retired Greyhound. Smart, gentle, very quite, can bark, but rarely do, lovable, very well behaved, lay around most of the time like having a large cat in the house. Perfect for retireies. Love to run when given the chance, but just as happy just being with you. Had two , just lost one afew months ago, never a problem in the house with either of them. I have had other dogs in th past, but Greys are tops.

If I could have the dog of my dreams, Gracie, I'd have a hypoallergenic, non-shedding dog who doesn't need to be walked, whose poop is smaller than rabbit poop so I wouldn't have to pick it up, a doggie who doesn't bark, who doesn't mind being left alone for days on end, never needs to be groomed, naturally resistant to fleas, ticks, disease and who loves me unconditionally.

You would be spot on with one exception . SHE is now over the age of 55 and lives in The Villages. She topped out at 80 lbs. No papers, but parents were labs, she looks like a lab, so she is a lab....

Went from a cute puppy to a dog that tries to get a beer before the bar at Bonifay even opened!!!

The Villages Florida

PS. Sorry I got a few pictures that I never mind sharing

Two Chocolate Lab / German Short Hair mixes.

We got both of them from Animal Rescues. It’s just amazing how much animals enrich your lives.

We’re coming down to TV this weekend (without the dogs), and are looking forward to visiting the dog parks.

Default Lexi

Lexi is the Cairn Terrier in my avatar picture. She is often a Cairn "Holy Terror.".....not Terrier! Except....when WE visit my aunt in the nursing home. Lexi will sit on my aunt's lap for hours at a time...while I wheel the two of them around in the wheelchair. EVERYONE in the nursing home thinks that Lexi is the most well-behaved dawg they have ever seen. It's a semi-miracle to see the character dawg so well- behaved while we are at the nursing home.

When we leave the nursing home, the angelic dawg becomes the character dawg that I know and love. Oh yes!

Dawgs do understand a lot more than we give them credit for.

Gracie....I love the questions you pose......I don't think a doggie is in my near future right now. I have too many travel dreams I want to full fill and I don't think it would be fair to be leaving doggie behind. If I were to have my dream dog it would probably be a rescue dog. Not too terribly big I've had too many friends break bones or dislocated shoulders as they've been dragged behind a 100 Golden who while on a quiet walk decided to chase a squirrel. But neither could it be too small since I am so tall I'd be worried about stepping on it....
