Call over someone from the Cool Gun Club and let them bring their AR-15 to take care of the critter. Or hire the dog that shot his owner.

I started one of those theads, thinking we had an animal in the attic and what it turned out to be was a bunch of heavy footed big birds clomping around on the roofline.

You could talk to the Humane Society or county Animal Control. They may let you borrow a trap and provide instruction on how to use it. The other option is to find the entry point and seal it (after you are sure the animal has left the building).

Moth balls also works. I got rid of squirrels that way since they don't like the odor. Just scatter them all around. I used a sling shot.

Grin... the personnel manager at a company where I worked got a call from his wife in the morning. "Noises in the attic", she said. He went home at lunch. Looked in the attic. POSSUM. Solution... shotgun (really, this happened). One shot, good aim, I guess. Dead possum----lots of stuff leaking through the ceiling of the living room. One problem solved.
By the time he made it back to work the whole factory knew the story.

Moth balls do work.........we used them to discourage new groundhog families who would have liked to make new burroughs under our deck and sunroom in Vermont. A week ago we heard "scratching" inside an interior wall (in the living room). It was loud. Only once before had we heard that sound........definitely a field mouse...although I'm envisioning a huge critter. Hubby always sets traps in the fall.......in the garage, in the furnace room, etc. and as another said..........all potential entry ways are sealed off, however, even in the tightest homes...........they can come in, especially after all the sub zero temperatures, then snow , ice and rain we have had lately................so I told him to drop some D-con inside the wall, which he did by taking off one of the wall plates.............and dropping a small package worth of the D-con pellets............heard the scratching the next morning and then GONE. However, now, there is an odor coming from that wall...........but as once before, it will disappear once the mouse becomes petrified. Funny how one small mouse's scratching can be so unnerving. p.s. Field mice can chew electrical wires inside the walls......which could then potentially cause a fire.......so I have no qualms about using D-con. |

I had squirrels in my attic in my other home in Melbourne. I put a speaker from my stereo up in the attic and played music at full volume. Squirrels left the attic immediately.
