Re: If you had to do it again, what would you add to the house
I have heard that there will once again be "build to suit" in the Villages. I don't know if that's just a rumor or if its true.
I asked our TV sales rep this question and he said not likely. They are going into the final phase of building out TV and to develop a design center once again is not financially smart. I wish they would offer it but it doesn't appear they will. Unless you have inside information Talk Host like a friend who works at the Sales Center!!!! |
Re: If you had to do it again, what would you add to the house
You'd think they could at least allow you to pick, counter tops, cabinet colors, carpet (color) or tile/wood floor and popcorn/ no popcorn on the ceiling. This would go a long way towards making it feel like you were involved. We were lucky I guess, we really would not have changed a thing in the house we purchased in TV. As a matter of fact if you compare the house we have in TV and similarities to the houses we have up north both of which we built it's scary. After building the last two houses, doing it again in TV was the last thing I wanted to do.

Re: If you had to do it again, what would you add to the house
Jan, Thanks for bringing up this topic. It is helpful to have a wish list because some of us may be thinking of doing some upgrading or changing from our present home to another model. Others may not have moved in yet and are just plain seeking ideas. Sharing thoughts about what we like or would like (regardless of the topic) seems like a valuable exercise for many of us. I appreciate all of the topics that you initiate Jan. Best wishes.

Re: If you had to do it again, what would you add to the house
I do have a question to those who already live in TV.
Once you move in, can you do whatever you want? TalkHost mentioned a circular driveway - can you do this without getting approval? Where I live now, we need to present the plan to our Community Board for approval. Some people don't and I will admit, I put in a paver walkway and patio without submitting the plan but to me,it just enhanced the home and I don't have busy body neighbors! What are the laws in TV for adding a room or patio, etc. |

Jan:
Sorry, didn't mean to touch any nerve! Nanci: Within critical guidelines, you can do a great deal after-the-fact. Any outdoor project, however, must be reviewed and approved by a board, which is both lenient and strict. You must adhere to established deed restrictions and covenants (like no troop of pink flamingoes in your yard :) ) and easements (that is, there are certain restrictions about how close your house can be to the street, the next-door house, the house behind, etc.) And, I'm guessing that if you want a purple house with pink polka dots or stripes, you might be denied! ;D |
Re: If you had to do it again, what would you add to the house
Outside improvements have to be approved by the architectural committee.

I would have like to have chosen some of the appliances, like the stove. The house
I chose had a gas stove and it is terrble to clean and keep clean on top. So I would like to choose that type of thing. that does not take a lot to do. |

Re: If you had to do it again, what would you add to the house
I would have chosen a smaller lot. We have a corner lot and the water bills for the grass are incredible. Last month our water bill was $89.00 and most of that was for landscaping. We've lived here 3 years and we've replaced a large portion of the front and side yards each year. I'm thinking of just expanding the lanai about 50'. In the long run the price of replacing grass and the water would probably be about the same as the addition.

When my carpeting wears out, I'm getting hardwood floors or something similar. I love my CYV and can't think of much to change.
