Amen!
[QUOTE=mickey100;1272071]I think if you look at larger well known retirement communities like Sun City and Del Webb for example, they all seem to offer both indoor and outdoor pools. I really think The Villages missed the boat on this one initially, but offering and indoor pool At this point will bring us up to par with the competition. Whether or not you personally use it, there are plenty of people that will. . We have a high number of elite athletes that do triathlons or are on the Villages swim team that really need a pool with cooler temperatures in the warm months to do adequate training. I don't begrudge the money spent on softball fields even though I don't play. Or tennis, or the myriad of sports that are offered. The Villages prides itself on offering amenities for the active lifestyle, and an indoor pool is a natural extension of that philosophy.[/QUOTE AMEN!

I have to agree wholeheartedly. We looked at a couple of Del Webb/Sun City communities before we found The Villages. After that there was no sense looking elsewhere. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Good Idea
I for one think an indoor 25 yard long sport/lap swimming pool would be a great idea! As a dedicated lap swimmer' I would gladly pay a fee! Lap swimmers currently are very limited in the outdoor sport pools. We generally can only swim very early AM or before dark. The pools are taken by other activities during the rest of the day. Also, backstrokers desperately need pools with flags so they don't hit their heads on the wall (ouch). Also, I think it is great to see the developer adding much needed amenities in an area where they are not trying to sell new homes. Will miss the dog park where the pool is planned, but progress always comes at a price.

Or it could be a separate membership fee like the fitness or woodshop facilities, but that wouldn't have as many payers as Priority Golf-Pool-Tennis, who are basically buying a "country-club" type upgrade. |

If you think this thread is long and full of opinions (?), just wait till the pool is built.......then the real bitching will begin.

The pool just got bigger!
Let's all chant....BUILD THAT POOL |
With more than 80 pools accessible for the residents, and not more than a short golf cart ride between them, it would seem reasonable for at least 5 be covered. Four poles and a canvas roof would be cheaper than indoor pools. Seniors with Sun issues are paying for amenities they cannot use.

Agree. If memory serves, they attempted to do that at LaHacienda sports pool not too long ago and folks up there threw a huge hissy fit. So much so that TV scrapped the idea. Now, where is the indoor pool going? |
Just half tin roof over the pools! Half pool for the sun worshippers and half pool for the thin skinned:beer3:
