It's against the law to not have an infant in a baby seat in a car how can it be legal to have an infant on your lap while you driving in an open golf cart?

Insane!

Welcome to Florida!... When I first lived here (about fifteen years ago), I was once making a 90° turn outside a MMP tunnel and a woman was making the same turn going into the tunnel, driving one-handed and holding an infant no more than, say, eight months old. I was stunned—and then realized she may have been an idiot ... but there is no law against this form of idiocy....

Of course it's the adult's decision! But what difference does it make? Now THIS is a violation. Whenever my better half sees this, a call immediately goes out from us to 911, and there is a traffic control division that sends a deputy out to deal appropriately with this.

And for those who say 'It's none of your business,' how sad not to recognize that being cognizant of incidents like this and sharing them in a forum like this —that is, raising awareness—just might reduce the incidences of them. 'Just might,' no certainty, but worth sharing. No one is suggesting playing Mr or Ms Policeman....

Natural Selection. Trust the process. :sigh:

For what it's worth (esp. to golf cart renters), one option is to self-install a lap belt that goes all the way around the seat back (not bolted in).

***. No flames please for this "unregulated" solution.

A company named Wesco Performance sells a buckle lap belt that is long enough to cross the entire bench seat and around the back....I've used this on a rental cart in the past...just a thought!

Golf Cart Seat Belts - Push Button Non-Retractable

Not as bad as watching two young boys in a golf cart by themselves, speeding through the development ignoring the speed limit and the stop signs. The oldest one was probably 11-12yo. The driver was practically standing up in order to reach the gas pedal. Senior Disneyworld is fun for children too, I guess.

Potential Darwin award winners. Hope their parents and grandparents will be proud.

Not useless. Medicinal. Reduced stress and enhanced one's mood. Just like yours.

The driver and passenger of a golf cart both had infants on their laps while whipping around the MMP.

No seat belts or anything.

This is insane and CPS or law enforcement should be called if you know who is doing this.

I believe you mistook what it was you were seeing. The infant was actually the driver because gramps was too drunk from partying on the squares.😁

It's the 10 year old's driving that scares me.

I was the first on the scene as a Trooper. It was so devastating that the parents split up a short time later.

If people carrying their infants on their lap in the carts could have experienced what I did, they would never do it. I worked that wreck in 1983 and I can still recall every detail about it to this day.

I remember when I took the golf cart safety class when we first moved here. The policeman described the dogs people would carry on their laps while on a golf cart as "air bags". Who would be so dumb to carry babies on their laps on golf carts ?

I too saw a child (maybe 2-3) standing in the basket! So dangerous!

Child endangerment. Should carry an automatic prison sentence for such dangerous and lunatic behavior.

How can you miss the people in front of you? Just yesterday right in front of me were 2 adults, one baby and one toddler in a 2 seater without belts.
