I think their posts do more harm than good for them. I just skip.

You are probably correct. Make it a ugly, gloomy, rainy day to seek out the giggle. Of course that might be a long time coming - we don't have all that many of them. Bah dah :boom:!

But you see, the real problem is that the negativity and dissing of TV is appearing in the title of the posting, not just the body of the message . So for those of us that use the “New Posts” option, it’s right in our faces without even reading the post.

That’s what I think needs to be addressed.

There are many negative comments posted on this message board by non-paying members. If someone wants to pay to say negative things great. This makes a free message board for me. TV is not for everyone and they need a place to live too.

Lets not forget, some of our posts will come up in a google search with the right words asked,,especially comparing Lake Weir to The VIllages. And where are they comming up through a Google Search is in TOTV...the Lake Weir Postings...postings that have no other member comments associated with it. So lets not be so nieve to think that these Lake Weir postings only go to TOTV members...the lake Weir developer is using TOTV as a forum to reach more than simply TOTV members. I dont think simply ADS would show up in a GOOGLE search but postings on TOTV certainly do.

BB = Bulletin Board(s)

Thank you...that's what I was talking about a couple of months ago. I thought they might tone it down a bit, but here they go again. I don't read their posts, but it's those "in your face" titles that really bother me. :ohdear:

I would highly suggest we all be a little more constructive in our comments rather than attack the advertiser. IN other words do you think TOTV should allow postings (as opposed to ads) that look like a posting from a member (especially to a newbie who may only click "New POsts or Quick Links) ? If they are allowed to post on the BB, should the postings be open to comments from other members rather than closed as they now are...and Be clearly marked as PAID ADVERTISEMENT!

Yes, I do think TOTV should allow advertising posts. They generate revenue. Even listed in the "New Posts" section, they are clearly marked as advertising.

Post ads are one of the ad options TOTV sells. Should I have a vote? Nay, I don't own the company. I don't get to vote on what Walmart sells either.

I personally think Lake Weir's advertising reflects poorly on the development, but I have no idea whether the ads help or hurt their business. DKDC.

Read their ads closely - Probably three-fourths of what they have to say that's positive about their development is related to some connectivity with TV, both good and derogatory things. As I'd posted previously in the thread ceejay noted, you'll see everything from soup-to-nuts when it comes to housing at LWL - some fairly nice places that are well-kept all the way to what appear to be abandoned/derelict houses. Also, it's quite obvious there are no (or extremely few) enforced restrictions in place. There are soooooooooooooo many areas and streets we found there that have sat undeveloped for years - it's amazing....and spooky! Take a GPS with you if you plan to drive around on your own. In some areas, there aren't enough houses around to stop and ask anyone for directions when you become hopelessly lost.....and you will get lost!! Seriously!

If their on-going advertising approach is to tear another organization down in an attempt to make themselves look better, well good luck to them! Hope it all works out......it generally doesn't.

Lake Weir Markets Legitimate Alternative Amenities

The Lake Weir Lifestyle appeals to people that do not like what TV has to offer or those who seek choice. Lake Weir residents who are happy would be inconsolable living here. Lake Weir ads have the potential of winnowing out those who would end up as your miserable, cranky neighbors that would be dedicated to bending and breaking the rules you love.

The viewpoint, that non-TVers must be "Nuts" or "The Enemy", is a bit myopic, and maybe even unkind. So, thank Lake Weir. Don't condemn them. They may actually be your new best friend.

I really don't think anyone is saying that The Villages is for everyone. Most everyone knows that isn't true. No one place is ideal for everyone. Lake Weir provides an alternative as do many other developments throughout the state. I really believe that what does bother some is the crude manner in which the Lake Weir developer is trying to attract prospects. It's almost like they are purposely trying to agitate over 80,000 Village residents so that they will bad-mouth the Lake Weir option to everyone they know. In my humble opinion that isn't the brightest move the Lake Weir developer could make.

:BigApplause:

Love your post. I have been in some big beautiful properties with over the top huge homes on Lake Weir. I'm sure glad I get invited to their homes.

Well said.

Freedom of speech thrives in The villages, thank goodness. That's why I'm moving to The Villages.

If this forum censored every negative comment The Villages would be known as a fascist community.

Would hope that potential movers to the Villages would already have done their homework and would know whether or not the Villages is a good fit for their attitudes, stuff, and like of fences.
