Thanks GoodLife. Only having 7 ICU beds available in Sumpter County is not reassuring!
|
After reading through all the posts in this thread, I have come to the conclusion: We’re Doomed!
|
Yes we are doing so good aren’t we !

Sumter hospitals currently have 112 regular beds available. Not all covid patients need an ICU room, only the most serious cases. Quote from Chief Medical Officer Villages Health email: As of this morning, there are 15 patients in the UF The Villages Hospital and 36 in UF Leesburg Hospital.16 of these patients are in intensive care. |

The same report also said this, "The growing caseload is partly driven by increased testing, but a larger percentage of tests are coming back positive, jumping from 6 percent a month ago to more than 18 percent." |
I don't know, maybe I'm just dumb. Do I truly care, at this point, how many people have been tested - not really. If 30 million have been tested (roughly 10% of our pop) and 15 million tested positive what exactly would that tell me to do that I'm not already doing? I wear a mask - why? Because it "MAY" help. There's arguments both ways on that so who do you believe? Whomever you want. Social distancing and washing seem logical so I'll go with that. There's only 2 stats that interest me. One, what demographic succumbs more often to this virus. Older folks with underlying conditions. Well that's me so I take note. The other one would be if we ever get to 80% of the population testing positive then we'd be into the herd immunity ratio. I do peruse the stats but I'm a true believer in "believe none of what you hear and half of what you see". Especially in this day and age.

Numbers are nice to know, but actions to take are far more important
Still can't figure out why everyone doesn't simply wear a mask when around others and focus on social distancing. THAT is the solution...and it's not political or racial....just smart

I love the name “KillerCuomo” he did help kill Covid for NY, although I don’t ever go to NY, I watched his efforts every day. May someone do the same for Florida!

1. Not all adults are smart. 2. Not all parents/caretakers are smart. 3. Not all kids/people who need caretakers who DO have smart parents/caretakers, follow their parents'/caretakers' instructions. That's all I got. |
Thank you for sharing

As of today, Walmart announced that people everywhere must now wear masks when in their stores.
|

bares repeating FOX 35 INVESTIGATES: Florida Department of Health says some labs have not reported negative COVID-19 results Steve |
No matter what number you see, they are all under-reported.

There is a problem in that 100s of Florida labs are only reporting positive tests, not negative tests. This doesn't mean the total for positive tests is inaccurate, it means the percentage of positive test they show every day on the dashboard is inaccurate. If you don't report negative tests, your percentage of positives will be higher than it really is. |
Should visitors, be given guest passes based on a certified negative COVID test, within 5 days of the request for the pass? There appears to be an uptake in short term rentals, could this be a contributing factor?

Yes!

Interestingly, I actually agreed with your assertion that the rate of positive test results was in error. |

So, maybe poster is implying that visitors from out of state should prove they are negative for COVID, or they should quarantine on arrival here. The travel industry is really being affected by this. |

I wish they could break down the numbers for the Villages. Marion County is a large county with a very small portion in the Villages. Same with Sumter and Lake. Seems like all the reports want to scare the people in the Villages thinking the cases are all here.
|
Not true. About 80% of Sumter County residents live in The Villages.
