We are new to the Villages and would like to get a high speed internet provider with fast uploads and downloads. Any recommendations would be much appreciated. We purchased a home in the Village of Charlotte. Thank you!

Comcast.
Much has been said about Comcast....mostly negative.

We have had the here for 13 years....not one issue.
Maybe a billing screw up but never on service or equipment or response to a problem.

Not one incidence of an outage in those 13 years.

Agree..

We despised Comcast from up north so got CenturyLink and have regretted it. When our contract is up we will switch to Comcast. Nothing else is available to us where we are.

I ran a speed test on my Comcast/Xfinity internet last week and its download speed was over 150MBS. Listen closely to the other providers' ads and you'll hear them brag about 50MBS speeds. Comcast is the best if speed is your prime consideration. No one else is even close.

If you have a need for very high bandwidth, CenturyLink offers 1000 megabits per second (1 gigabit per second) for those with fiber optic to the house (I believe everyone south of 466a, not sure about other areas). I don't have 1 gigabit per second because I don't have a requirement but it is available (about $100/month I believe). I have 40 megabits per second for $35 per month.

With Comcast, you need to prod them every 2 years to get a 'new' promotional rate, and I agree with above that they do have occasional billing errors, just went through one with them for additional services that they confirmed in writing, and then forgot to enable!! After complaining, I was actually able to get my bill $15 lower for the next 2 years.

It depends where you live. We live in an area where there is no fiber so the CenturyLink DSL is absolutely painful. Our only other choice is Comcast which we will be switching to. I wish we had better choices.

I am going to also post my vote for Comcast/Xfinity. We had Brighthouse/Spectrum until recently. It was fine.....until Hurricane Irma. Brighthouse/Spectrum was down for about a whole week after the storm, and after all the power was restored. Comcast/Xfinity came right back with the electricity. I can't tell you how frustrating it was to have no internet or television after the storm, plus the Brighthouse/Spectrum employees telling you that their service wouldn't be available until Duke Energy gave them permission to turn it back on. That is at least what they told us.

They were quite gracious when we returned all our boxes the day after their system came back on. Comcast/Xfinity was wonderful in getting their system installed in our house in record timing, even when our street didn't show up in their system and it took extra time to get someone at their end to verify it before the order could be processed.

Now that we have had it for about a month, for the tv, we are still getting used to the new features and channel line up, and like it better. They seem to have more updated tech than our old cable and the DVR system is a great improvement!

We are fine with Spectrum, just try to lock in the prices options because after one year use the price will go up slightly
