Default Irrigation Zones

We recently bought (March 2020) a courtyard villa where the side and back of the yard is paved, and there are six areas of river rock. I have located three irrigation zones. #1 is the front; #2 is just inside the gate and towards the back; and #3 is along part of the back. Three areas at the back appear not to have irrigation. How many zones should I expect to find in a courtyard villa. I have tested 4,5,6 and I get no response.

The courtyard villas I've seen have 3 zones. Zone 1 if for the shrub area in the front, Zone 2 is for the grass areas in the front and back, and Zone 3 is for the shrub area in the back. If your back yard has been paved, they may have disconnected part of Zone 2, which may have originally had grass that was removed. It is unlikely that a courtyard villa would have more than 3 zones.

Thank you. That's about what I expected to hear. We plan to update the landscaping and hopefully can easily have the irrigation reconnected.

I have a CYV with 5 zones. Look in your outside irrigation box and see how many zone valves you have. Much better than a wild guess by posters who have never seen your house. Or maybe not......

Mine only has 2 zones, basically 1 for most of the grass and 1 for bushes. There is some overlap. I also shutdown 2 heads where overwatering was happening.

Echoing the above

I own two CYV.

One has 5 zones, one has 2 zones.

Like a prior posted mentioned, look in your irrigation box, see how many zone valves.

You could also look at your irrigation controller and see how many zones have wires run to them.

Pretty simple really.

Obviously, without inspecting the house, all posters are just guessing. I think the OP was just seeking some general information about courtyard villa sprinkler systems.

My sprinklers are set up, Man to Man.

Not a fan of zones.

I live in corner lot CYV, I have 5 zones. Guess depends on size of the lot?

Good answer another possibility, run the timer manually through and count to see how many are programmed.

Same with me. OP might want to get an irrigation specialist to check it out...

Ours also had three zones. However, I also had a problem with the one in the back. It was not irrigating. Found that the line in the back had been cut and had to have it replaced.
