New softball fields
Can anybody figure why lights were not included in the new softball fields? With the ages of the players, and the daytime heat , wouldn't it make sense to play in the cool of the evening after dark?

Re: New softball fields
Could be an issue of not wanting the noise of a night game bothering residents.
Lights are expensive to operate. We have three soccer fields in our town that are made of field turf (artificial turf) and have lights. Each costs about a mil without the land cost (the city made new housing developers provide them as part of their rezoning fees)(the mayor's son was a soccer player). The city charges the adult or youth soccer leagues a fee to operate the lights on an as wanted basis (per night per field).

Re: New softball fields
bass...even though it makes sense to "play" in the evenings during the hot summer, very few sports activities are in action after 5pm. Call it the Happy Hour effect. The pools empty out, the pickleball quiets down, the tennis courts are empty, etc. As 5pm approaches, seems like folks are ready for shower, Happy Hour, Dinner, and music.
They have lighted tennis courts at Glenview and they are rarely used after dark.
