Are you saying he doesn’t live here?

I’ll let him answer - he has never made any mention that he has a home here.

It’s called freedom of speech.
The developer wants elected officials who believe in low taxes and free market. That is who they give political donations to.

I prefer elected officials who are beholding to no one. They do what is best for the community that they serve. And, at times, that will not be the same as what is best for the people in the community.

I believe Don will do a good job representing us but would feel better if he did not get and accept the funds given to him by the developer and his subs. Do not think he needs hundreds of thousands of dollars to fund his campaign

So Marathon, at what value do you place a person's integrity, you obviously think mine is worth less than a thousand dollars, what about the $200 donor, am I also beholding to them also? How about the $50 donor? Is $10 too much? Where do you draw the line, what is too much? What do you think I am selling my integrity for? I will tell you this, it is not for sale, it never has been and never will be.
If you're unhappy with the maximum amount allowed by the state law then run for office and replace John Temple and lower it to what you think a man's integrity is worth. As I've said before, these statements reflect the commenter's value and morals, not mine.

Ok Stu, whom should I accept donations from, you seem to be the all knowing moral compass; share with all of us your divine wisdom on who is the right person and who is the wrong person to take a donation from. What makes one person better than another? Are they not also residents of Sumter County, what makes the developer and the other business leaders unworthy of being able to support one candidate or another, but other individuals worthy? Why stop with the developer and their sub-contractors? Why not their sub-subcontractors. Why not everyone who has ever made a dollar because of the developer, this would then include everyone who has ever sold a home built by the developer. That would include yourself, Stu, if you decide to sell your home and move back to New York, you would be unworthy.

Believe it or not, there are still a few of us left in the world that believe in doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do, that believe in serving their community for the good of the community, that there are still people with a level of integrity that really doesn't have a price tag on it.

Somewhat disingenuous to act indignant over $10, $50, or $200 donations when there is the appearance of a coordinated effort to contribute over $80,000.

Not improper and not wrong to accept but not quite the same.

Don never thought you were not a man of integrity and thank you for your service to our country.

I just think it does not look right when you represent the citizens of Sumter but are accepting huge amounts of donations from non citizens who do the bidding of the developer. Do I still expect to vote for you, yes but stand by what I have said

I know Don Wiley personally. He is a man of very high integrity. He is also very wise. By far, the most qualified person running for Commissioner.

Best Response!!!!

You are only allowed to take donations from TOTV approved donors. Doesn’t sound like a Free Market/Free Speech type of policy.

This was VERY EASY to find, if one reads post #54 from the moderators. But I'll repost it anyway:
