They need to be much larger.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse. He could have caused a major accident on such a busy road. Learn the rules before you start driving your golf cart. He would have had a major problem if a cop saw him.

466A. At least they didn't move directly into the left lane:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl: (Unlike some car drivers who are also going 20 mph)

People yelling, honking horns, etc had no impact---he just kept tooling along oblivious to where he was or how much danger he was in (not to mention the fines). Apparently a lost and confused golf cart driver that drove on CR 466A and you end your message with, "I just hope he and his passenger are still alive"!

Instead of bashing the golf cart driver online, why not give the golf cart driver the benefit of doubt and assume that he is new to the area and was lost and may of needed help. I'm sure you remember when you first came to The Villages and you where lost like the rest of us.

My question to you is why didn't YOU just spend five minutes of your time, turn around safely in your car and inform them that driving a golf cart on 466A was very dangerous and against the law. Maybe YOU could of had saved two lives and also the life of the car driver that would of hit them, or just call 911 if you where that concerned?

Would YOU not call 911 if you saw a driver driving S/B on the N/B lane of the Turnpike or on any other major roadway?

this may be a bit off-topic, but i have a question for cart riders. have you seen these 'tiny' cars, (looks like a golf cart with a top, but is designed like a car,) riding on golf cart paths? this year ive seen aprox 3 of these vehicles rising on the paths, & frankly, it looks very dangerous . are they allowed to ride there, or is it a 'lost' person?

For the sake of brevity, these carts you are referring to are actually for the most part off road golf-carts that are designed to look like cars and authorized to use the golf cart lanes.

OK, ladies and gentlemen, you have just witnessed the first idiotic post of the day.

First of all, even if you are new to the area, you (should) know that you don't drive a golf cart out onto a highway

Second, are you suggesting that I (or someone else) compound the problem by trying to make some kind of half-a$$ed U-turn on 466A, then make another, then race to come up behind him past dozens of cars and trucks in 2 lanes that are all merging into the left lane to get around the cart?????

Third, even when I was new here, I didn't "get lost", and certainly didn't drive out onto a highway.

Fourth, I did slow down to 20 in my convertible, drifted close enough to him to yell that he cannot be out on this road and to get off. He just ignored me.

Fifth, if you are a cardinal or a bishop, I'll forgive your holier than thou attitude

Sixth, welcome to the villages and specifically TOTV. I sense you'll fit right in here

OK, you are 100% correct. Then don't get involved (like most) but at least call 911 if like YOU said their life was in danger and don't complain (like most) a day later online. Most important, allow for different points of view. (like everyone should do)

I think I got as involved as feasible under the circumstances. I tried to communicate their situation to the driver, but got ignored. My convertible is a 2011, so no hands free bluetooth cell connection, so I would have to break the law myself to call 911. I didn't say their lives were in danger (although they certainly could be if a car driver was as oblivious as the cart driver was), I simply said I hoped they are OK. And I posted the OP less than an hour after the incident, not the next day (not that it mattered)

But I will apologize for responding to your post with full snarkiness. (It only deserved 40-60% snarkiness :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:)

PS: The cart turned onto a highway, so there really aren't a lot of different points of view to consider

Shortly before moving here, I read that a golf cart going the wrong way on a roundabout was hit head on by a car and both cart occupants were killed. This incident set alarm bells off in my head that you can be killed in a golf cart if you don't pay attention. Since moving here, I have read multiple times of golf cart drivers making mistakes that cost them their lives. People need to inform themselves of all regulations and rules and pay close attention when driving a golf cart because their life may depend on it.
