Default Keep dogs off your lawn remedy

I would think an Invisible Fence would keep dogs off your lawn just as it would keep your dog in;
Just a matter of where you put it.

Doesn't the doggie need to have a certain collar on?

That wouldn't work in my neighborhood. The owner is always out in the street, with only the dog on it's retractable leash up in my yard. For some reason dog owners just have a hard time controlling their dogs on retractable leashes, I can't understand it. LOL

I stopped using retractable leashes years ago for this very reason. You cannot possibly have control of your dog on one of those things. Granted, I have big dogs, but even with a little dog, it can be a problem. Plus, it teaches your dog to pull on the leash when walking!

I had that issue up north and I poured ammonia along the front of my property on the sidewalk and when the dog sniffed it got a wiff of it and would automatically cross the street when he got to my house...only took once...maybe you could pour some in the gutter in along the perimeter of your property. Just a thought...not harmful and believe me they have a good memory !!!

Yes you are absolutely right ! I don't know what I was thinking unless I had the cow fence in mind which is electrified.

The medication I'm on is messing my mind up this week !
( I have the H1N1 flu virus ) and on I.V. medications daily. Almost bought the farm with this one. I did get the vaccine but got sick anyway.---

I love animals even though I worked at a county Kennel when I was young and had to put down dogs weekly because no one wanted them. We had an acre lot where we came from so there was plenty of room for our dog. We trained her to go in one area in the back.

Anyway sorry for the mistake !

No need to apologize. I hope you are up and about and feeling better soon. I knew a woman who worked at a county dog pound and had to put animals to sleep. She was one of the most compassionate animal lovers I've known. Takes a giant and mature heart to face the reality that these unwanted animals are facing. Sounds like you are just like her. Feel better soon.

In MI, we used to add a little ammonia to garbage bags to keep the raccoons out. (They were expert at opening trash cans.) It isn't harmful to the animals. It wasn't supposed to be harmful to the soil either, but otherwise I don't know what the environmental consequences are.

Electric cow fence! There's an idea. It would work for solicitors as well.
