Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has a solution for keeping small dogs inside wrought iron fencing? Many Verandas with any kind of view have a wrought iron back fence. My dog can run through the wrought iron because of the wide spacing. Anyone have a potential solution?

Thanks!

Cindy

Fatten them up so they can't fit through. That's what i did.

I started a nonprofit for dogs back home and have routinely fostered puppies and other small dogs who could have made it through our wrought iron fence (again, not in TV). But I installed chicken wire and it's virtually invisible so while possibly not allowed, if no one sees it and reports it you should be good to go. It works great - just install with cable ties - and you can remove it quickly by simply cutting the ties.

But please definitely do watch your dogs! Do not leave them unattended outside - ever - and check overhead for predators for the little ones.

My Welsh terrier would either jump 5 feet fence (when he was younger) or dig under to get out.

Here’s what I used with black cable ties to mount.

Wire Fencing

I don't know if it's "Villages approved, but for previous properties, I've used wire fencing - black usually makes it hard to see.

Electrify the fence. Or maybe, put barbed wire at the bottom.

There are also sprays to keep any animals away.

What are these rules you speak of?

Road-Runner 06-13-2025 12:22 PM

Have to believe there's not rules against 'modifying' the fence with any of the suggestions above except the invisible fence. If yours backs up to a green zone that no one can traverse, you'll likely get away with it, but I'm actually a fan of HOA rules even when they cramp my style. Better that than what some people would do without them!

similar to the neck pillows people bring on airplanes. you put it on the dog and they cannot fit through the fence. Don't know what it is called but you can look it up.

Shoulder pads would work. The "cone of shame" would also work well.

There is a cord that attaches to a dog collar. I think it is called a "leash". What will they think of next.
A sensing device that detects the dogs approach then turns on several vacuum cleaners lining the fence.
