Google his name....he seems to have a history before coming to Florida plus also seems to work the system. Hopefully this time he'll be put away, if not for a very long time. He's dangerous!!

Dusty_Star 03-17-2024 07:55 AM

It looks like the house he was holed up in in Chatham was damaged pretty severely. From The Villages News:

"An armored vehicle had been used to punch holes in the front door, garage and some windows. The tactical forklift was used to rip out the garage door, after it had been penetrated by the armored vehicle."

There is a HUGE difference between trying to stop someone from stealing a pair of shoes, versus intervening to save a human life.

4, engaging like a kick as you say, was never on the table.

Her friend absolutely should have run away and called 911. When this guy threw the victim across the ground like a ragdoll, that was enough to know that he was dangerous. There was no point in her sticking around to witness anymore-especially for her own safety-unless she was in a position to stop him.

If this situation was in Polk County, Grady would have cleaned it all up, about 10 minutes after it started.

That’s exactly what I said! I’m still baffled that there are those who think they can’t jump in or won’t jump in to help save her. That literally could have been her last moments on earth and that “friend” was like “oh well, see ya later.” She was a few steps from her garage, surely there was something in there she could have used to wack him with to pause him long enough for both women to run inside. Good grief.

After several hours we would have gassed the place - just to save all the overtime if for no other reason.

[QUOTE=Coop63;2311838]Anyone know how this ended?

A kidnapping suspect who barricaded himself in a home in The Villages on Friday had been arrested in 2023 after jealous harassment of a woman in the Village of Chatham.

James Savage, 54, was the subject of a manhunt on Friday after allegedly forcing a woman into a Mercedes in the Village of Monarch Grove. The woman was later found safe and Savage barricaded himself in a home on Belhaven Loop in the Village of Chatham, prompting a lengthy standoff with Marion County sheriff’s deputies.

Savage had been arrested last year after harassing a woman who lives on Belhaven Loop.

Just check the Daily Sun in the morning, I'm sure it will give you the details (sorry, just couldn't resist). Seriously, IMHO I think there is a GREAT deal more to this story, a great deal more. But of course I could be wrong ! We know that crime is out of control in the V's, and it's getting even worse everyday. Perhaps we have actually come to the point where we could be kidnapped, in broad daylight, while just taking a walk.... but I personally doubt it's gone that far....yet ! Still think a lot was not in the Villages News article. What we do know for sure, The Villages has become a magnet for criminals and ex-cons, and more seem to come everyday. Does not seem all are adult children of residents, seems many many landlords do not care who they rent to, that is another factor that adds to deterioration of the "friendly, caring, culture" the Villages was founded on, though there are still those of us who try to live up to that ideal, who still introduce ourselves to a new neighbor, who do still take home made cookies to greet a new resident, but it's an uphill "battle" to preserve this ambiance ! Who wants to take warm home backed cookies to a convicted child molester ? Not me these days ! No one is more hated than he/she who laments the "old days", but I sure do miss those days !

Wonder if we could "borrow" Sheriff Grady of Polk county for at least a few months ? In six months he would be able to "discourage" any criminal types from coming to The Villages to hide out ! The Daily S. would not be able to keep ignoring what is happening to our community once he got to "work" on ferreting out the criminal element.

No, he was visiting a friend. She was not able to get into her house for two days. Her car has broken windows, as well. She will be inconvenienced for some time. I can bet she is not going to help him with a bond to get out of jail.

Sounds like Mr. Savage is living up to his name. I think there is a psychology of names. Obviously he is no Saint. He is a disturbed individual. Judging by the extreme violence of his "throw-down" of that lady, he needs to be charged with attempted murder,

I agree women need to be careful. But some of these men don't show who they really are until they are well into the relationship. If you read up on NPD you'll understand how these type of people work.

Methinks this story will add fuel to the fire regarding TV’s reputation for “seniors behaving badly” which has already tainted the image of TV (golf cart loofahs, swingers parties, THAT movie) This man is apparently some sort of professional Lothario so there’s also that…

The "Peaceful surrender" happened after they gassed him and he decided he'd rather breathe than choke.

The initial report I read said he had a gun- No? Also, there are not TWO responses to danger: Fight or Flight- there are THREE: Fight, Flight, and FREEZE. For some reason the Freeze response doesn't get mentioned when saying this well known phrase.

Why do people criticize the Happy Paper. We've always considered it a Community News Letter. It is unapologetic in presenting helpful information and insight into navigating the complexities of the community and profiling the people in it. It serves a specific purpose and does a good job doing so. Anyone wanting stories on crime doesn't have to look far to get coverage on those stories.

My nephew is a police officer. His department would arrest all who made an assault. Cooling off period so the incident doesn't turn deadly hours later. When people are angry there is no telling what they will do. When they sit, locked up, their demeanor changes. Most are set free after seeing a judge the next day.

. I had a friend who stoped a guy beating a woman in the street, when the cops got there the woman told the cops that my friend started the fight and hit both of them. He ended up in cuffs

I know I am hard on women, but it really is possible to see a snake looking for a lonely woman of means. There used to be a guy like this hanging around Glen View bar many years ago and he usually left with a lady. In this age of high tech it is so easy to look someone up on a computer.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones, I have a long time marriage with a great guy.

Many sociopaths and NPD's may not necessarily be looking for money. Their motivation is to control and emotionally destroy their victims. They may not have "records" to look up as they may not have ever been arrested for their abuse.

And yes, it's tougher to understand for those that have never been in a situation like that. You are truly blessed. ;)

And the #1 worst police situation is a domestic situation. On this case, no injuries/deaths and he is in jail. Cost a few extra bucks up front and saved a lot of time money and expense if there were injuries/deaths.

I've asked about 10 people here in The Villages since the recent incident, if they knew who Grady Judd is. No one seemed to know. Do folks in The Villages not watch local TV News or doesn't the Tampa news get this far north?

Grady Judd is on the Tampa news, most every day. He's a Central Florida Folk Hero (& a little nuts). He's the Sheriff in lil' ol' Polk County. He's got TWO 40' Tractor Trailer Mobile Command Centers and probably the largest SWAT team in the USA, other than the FBI & NYC.

He's obsessed with sex. There's a sex arrest every day in Polk County and Brady is on TV, talking about it.

Polk County is home to Streamsong, the #1 golf resort in the East. There's nothing to do but golf, within 30 miles. I was looking at property there about 10 years ago, to open a Hooter's type restaurant (all those golfers away from home, with no adult supervision? It would have been a gold mine). As soon as I realized that was Judd country, I immediately folded my tent and went home.
