You will need a wet location and get the longest down rod for your ceiling height. The best fan I have found is made by Fanimation. The Xeno fan moves 6,435 cubic ft of air, has a led light and wall control. I was in the lighting and fan business for 4 years. I have two of them, on my lanai and one in my bedroom. Go to Besco lighting in Leesburg and they can help you. Much better quality than Lowe's or Home Depot but still priced well. Ask for Jo, tell her Kim recommended you.

I found them at Dan's Fan City .. which I believe is a chain .. If the quality and CFM of Big Box fans don;t fit your needs, check out the nearest to the Villages

There is a Dan's Fan City in Leesburg.

Look up Minka fans--3 bladed fans are way more efficient--this the brand we use in our living room--none of our other fans come close to its performance- all our other fans are Casablanca & Hunter

The Minka Fans seem pretty nice.

Nice, but pricey.

I've installed over 130 ceiling fans, so I have what you could call a slight knowledge. They all spin when you flip the switch. Size matters, more often than not, price doesn't, with a few exceptions.

Some like Grey Poupon, some like French's mustard.

To each their own.

I am a retired electrical contractor=my companies' installed thousands of fans--we were very demanding as to the brands of fans that we installed-as to degree of fine balance, ( lots of downloads 8' or longer) also some fans were inherently noisier that other-- no one wants a fan that goes tick-tick in the mbr/suite--we didn't want to warranty-whose problem--material/installation

We always recommended Casablanca--never had to use balance kits on any Casablanca--but I retired in 95'--guess things are different now--all I know is I replaced all the builders line fans in our house, here

Our lanai fans move only what seems like half the air of our living room fan. The lanai fans are mounted about 10 inches below the 8 foot ceiling, while the living room fan is mounted on a pole about 3 feet below the 12 foot ceiling in our living room.

So....it is possible that even if you get a more powerful fan for your lanai that it really can't move more air than your current one. If you have a high ceiling in your lanai, you might try dropping the fan down as an experiment.

Our lanai ceiling is over 10 feet.
I thought all the lanai ceilings were standard.

They're not standard. Ours is 8', where we have two Kichler CF's installed by the builder. This results in a blade clearance of slightly over 7', which is required by code. Also of note, on 8' ceilings, they use the 4" downrod which comes with the fans. On taller ceilings, interior or exterior, 12" downrods are most often used. Your mileage may vary, depending on your ceiling heights.
