Hi Tilley Bear from a fellow Brit. Tea’s good - but hope you’ve packed the scons, Jam, clotted cream, marmite, and gravy. They are either hard to get (impossible) or damn expensive. Gravy is 400% more expensive than UK so make sure you pack it when you fly 😂😂😂
We bought back in 2019, but covid happened so we had to wait till end of last year to see our place slightly south of you. PM me if you have any questions - especially around being a Brit in the US.

If you run - there’s a couple of us in the area that originate from Blighty. Welcome to TV. We love it - best decision we made, and with FX finally heading back to realistic its getting better all the time.

NB. Airfares are a big thing when flying out. An advantage of owning is Basic Economy. Book the cheapest flight it’ll safe you around £100. Don’t waste money on standard economy as you can still take a small underseat bag and case fir overhead with BA. Norse charge. United tell you that you need standard economy (£100 extra), but the small print states you can still take a bag with basic in transatlantic flights and therefore internals as well.

This is good for taking over a suitecase of tea, gravy and pasta ! Yep spagetti is a lot more expensive in US than UK 😂😂😂

You've got great advice here. Just wanted to say "welcome in!" You'll hear that greeting in shops here and I find it so charming. :)

Welcome....... I hope you love it. Can I ask a nosy question please? If you are coming from the UK, where is the moving van coming from?

Welcome!

Hello, welcome to The Villages! Hope you have a grand time here.
One suggestion: join at least one indoor club where you sit for the activity. That gives you the opportunity to talk at length to your table mates. The indoor clubs are a super way to make friends, get needed info about life in The Villages, and to get recommendations for services needed for your house, medical services, and so on. I’m happy to talk to you at any time! Kathleen 252-258-4151

So if you see any furniture vans in Olivia Terrace then you know thats me!Looking forward so much to meeting lots of people, and getting involved in lots of activities. I really and truly dont know where to start, there is so much to do .!!! But water volleyball and pickle ball really appeal to me.I might have to rent my villa out maybe just for 3 months to a snowbird, just to cover my costs, as I still have a home in the Uk to maintain, so if anyone knows of a company that takes care of homes to part timers please let me know. I will be popping backwards and forwards regularly. Please pop by if you see the vans, I can offer you tea or coffee , us brits always have the kettle on ,lol! Thanks everyone

Welcome to paradise!!

Welcome! Hopefully, you are not too far away from the hubbub that you won't enjoy. We use Relax Home Services - Karen and Erik, the latter who is the Chief of Police at neighboring Fruitland Park. Phone is 608-289-9564. Also, their son does a weeding business - $20/hr - great work ethic and results and you will not find many people who will do weeding in TV.

Yes you can bet on that, as you know we don't get great weather here. Looking forward to coming over there, 9 more days lol!

And the teabags are Marks and Spencers 'Gold', best teabags ever lol!.Ive sussed out the flying charges I think, and you do have to factor in the luggage as you have said , and then the cheap flight isn't so cheap anymore! Coming out this time and in our peak season as well, I found Tui to be the best. I could bring 25kg, (in 3 bags if you wanted)for 92.00 quid. Ive used fold away holdalls, that will fit in hand luggage on the return journey so I don't have to pay it coming back .(I thought that was quite clever of me lol), as Tui will give you carry on luggage as part of the flight price. Furnishing the house from scratch I had loads of kitchen stuff here that I could use out there! So hence the excess luggage.Looking forward to meeting lots of people when I come out. Thanks for your input.
