The same reason big trucks pay more for road tolls then cars. Because they can.

It is not per person. Must be per household. One fee for wife and me.

They raise more money that way.

It is per person if you don't get the annual trail fee for $141.which only good for the two in the household. If you ride with a guest you are free (not actually free but prepaid) and the guest pays $4.00.
I believe the OP was asking why each golfer that doesn't pay the annual trail fee has to each pay $4.00 if you only are using one cart. It's a money maker, that's why. Do the math: exec, players (w/o yearly prepaid) per day X $4.00 = Plenty$$$. I don't want give "them" any ideas, but why isn't a trail fee charged on the championship courses? Their trails are much longer & probably cost more to put in and maintain. The asterisk on the "free golf for life" sale's pitch is it's only free if you walk the executive courses. |

My wife is an amplified A type with 5% body fat. Riding a cart is not an option. So the exec courses for us are free. We did try to get on the Nancy Lopez course for free at Christmas arriving well before 8AM..but it was couple hour wait..

Ahhhhh Yes. Four bucks to play nine. As I say and say again, it doesn't get any better than that. If you are lucky enough to play in The Villages, you are lucky enough. Choose from 34, count' em, THIRTY FOUR executive courses for just four bucks. Lower Paradise. She who has paid a lot of money over her life for golf. Don't hate me, we all have a vice.

Trail fee is per household residents. Got ten residents all are covered. We have three and all covered.

Nope...not free if you walk the exec's...
"The asterisk on the "free golf for life" sale's pitch is it's only free if you walk the executive courses."
you pay for it in your monthly amenities fee... |

$4/person if you don't...
get the yearly trail fee...much less expensive if you play a lot of exec courses.

Completely false...

the website says the fee of $141 and change cover a household for one year and includes 1 to 4 people...and they must be staying in that household...no "got ten residents all are covered"...bogus info... |

Lets assume you and I are riding together. You have paid a trail fee and I have not. You have paid for the use of the trail , I have not. That is why it is per person, not per cart.

There is a lot of confusion in this thread when people don't specify paying the trail fee on an annual basis for 1-4 persons in a household ($141/yr) vs each person paying per round ($4/person/per round).
