Had to wait 30 minutes to get lane at 7 am. Had no wait in pm but some others did. Early am full and small wait. Evening no wait.

Which is why I don't get why the pools have more space allotted for the walkers than they do for the swimmers.

For example.....The Lake Miona pool has 9 lanes. Normally (prior to Covid restrictions), that pool had 4 lanes in for swimmers and 5 lanes open for walkers. That makes no sense to me because many more walkers can fit in one lane vs one swimmer with a max of 2 swimmers when they share a lane.

I did make a request to the person in charge of the pools to have 5 lanes in for swimmers and 4 lanes open for walkers. Seems my request fell on "deaf ears".

Come on out and check. I took the time to do it. Why can't you? It'll get you out of the house. Nevertheless, mid morning is best time and there should be more lap lanes. The monitors at Lake Miona are available and they keep track of the people in the pool.

Google them, they have a link under US Masters Swimming, and a Facebook page. They workout/practice in the later mornings at Mulberry Sports Pool. I would join them if I was a full time resident, but can’t make the commitment with my unpredictable schedule.

Can you swim as a guest of a resident in these pools? Short course or long?Just curious...

Villageswimmer 05-09-2020 12:16 PM

Residents only. Short course.

Very simple....there are more walkers than swimmers!

Does anyone know if the VAST, Village Aquatic swim team is working out at one pool

New to the area, so wondering where the swimmers known as VAST, Village Aquatic Swim Team, are working out, I believe they used to to a certain time of the day, 3 or so days a week? If anyone has any information please educate me

Was this "swimmer" wearing a bathing cap and goggles? I would have asked her if she was swimming, but that is me. The answer the monitor gave would not have sufficed for me.

I agree, at some pools it is illogical the way they give so much space to walkers, and just a few lanes for lap swimmers. I've been at the pool when there are 3 or 4 people waiting to lap swim, and you have 2 people walking in the section cordoned off for walkers - they easily could have put in a couple more lanes to accommodate everyone. It is especially aggravating when you have someone walking in a lap lane - they should be over in the walkers part of the pool, so serious swimmers have a place to swim.

I've said this before; I would speak up and ask the walker to kindly move to the open area of the pool. There is no reason a walker should use a lap swim lane.

I've been to Colony which has 10 lanes and they do have 5 lanes in for swimmers, so that is good.
