I retired from the BOP at 49 with 25 years of service. That was 8 years ago. Nassar is a dirtbag, but his stabbing compromised the safety of staff who intervened and performed life-saving measures. Other inmate's safety was also put at risk. Staff didn't look at Nasser as the scumbag he is...they saw him as a person who might die.

Compromised the safety of staff?
It's a Federal Prison, not a daycare center, there are stabbings once a week in these places that go unreported because they weren't Larry Nassar.
For all, we know the guards may have turned a blind eye for the stabbing to happen. He was in so-called protective custody.
The Prison staff is trying to capitalize on the media frenzy.
Until inmates start escaping on a daily basis they really need to stop the fear-mongering of elderly community residents and go to the folks who are in charge of Federal Prisons.
It's just unfortunate they couldn't close the deal.
