Default Latest update on the CR101 cart tunnel repairs

From www.districtgov.org :

"Status Update - CR101 Tunnel Closure 11/16/11
The support footers have been poured to receive the repair spans. Installation of the spans will begin Saturday, November 19, 2011. The re-work on the tunnel approaches is expected to happen the second week in December. As the work commences please continue to use caution at the temporary four-way stop located north of the closed tunnel, where golf carts are currently allowed to cross CR101. Please visit the District website, www.districtgov.org for updates on the progress of the CR101 Tunnel Project. "

At the Tuesday's POA meeting, someone asked whether CD3 was going to have to pay the cost of the CR101 tunnel repair. According to Janet Tutt, the entire cost of the tunnel replacement, including lowering the tunnel floor by one foot, and regrading the ramps will be paid by the tunnel manufacturer. CDD3 will not have to pay anything, and the mfr will also extend the current warranty on this new work.

Default 101 Tunnel looks almost complete

Went to Gandolfos last evening so dropped over to see the progress on the 101 tunnel. It looks ready to go, new sleeve in, new concrete in the road bed (which had to be lowered due to the new sleeve. ) Looks like brand new concrete and they are giving it extra days to cure. A few cans of contractor stuff lying around but we think it should be open shortly (maybe pending inspection?)

anybody priviy to the opening day?

Saw the same stuff yesterday as well, hedoman. A couple of workers were there cleaning up - one was spraying water on the new concrete to help slow down the curing. I'd guess it'll be probably 7-10 days (at a minimum) from when they poured before they open it up.

Default Liner

Did they put in a Steel or another Concreate liner?

Must have been quite a operation to watch.

Looks like a ribbed steel liner. Everything look really nice. Looks like all that is left is some cosmetic curbing and landscaping.

Default Secure

That should make it very safe and secure. Are all the original ones cement?

As we all know cement can crack and open up for water intrusion.

The Steel Liner repair seems like a good fix?

Should have left it the way it was - the 4 way stop sign worked fine. Maybe a 4 way stop sign for Rolling Acres Road.

Where Rex Drive is --- Either a 4 way stop or a red and green light --- rolling acres rd is 35 mph - just like 472 (Lynnhaven and Mona Shores Dr) which is ok to cross. Also on where Gazaras and Co Rd 109 cross El Camino Real also 35 mph and there is a light there.

Y'all are assuming that just because you want a 4-way stop ot a light at these intersections, golf carts will be allowed to cross. Not necessarily... I believe that would have to be passed by the Lady Lake Township.
